If you spent 12 years in the military, why did you get out?

After going to Iraq and Afghanistan and ending up with a bullet hole in my leg, I decided it was safer not to re-enlist when my time was up

Go on USAjobs.gov

Look for jobs at the military base. They hire veterans and give Veterans Preference points (if you were wounded you would get at least 10 points, which is huge for getting to the top of the list). There's an AF base just north of Vegas, and I'm sure there are a few other government jobs available in that area.

Also, look at Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) and other contractors.

what about a bartender?

Lol...you people crack me up....have zero/no idea how these jobs work in major tourist cities. I'm sure he could get a bartender job with much effort but it won't be anywhere that pays the bills.

Something fun? Decent Pay? Some freedom?

Any leads for me?

Tired of driving a cab and wanting to change paths.... Im a hard worker, never late and never call in sick, no problems working double shifts if needed.

I don't have any connections but I always hear how valet guys make ridiculous money.

Also I would think you would enjoy working in the casino...start going to dealer school....work your way up to pit boss or sports book boss

I dont know about vegas but I have done valet and was a valet manager at a new beach hotel in CT. I made ridiculous money in tips and the best part, they were tax free tips. We were subcontracted so we didnt have to pay all the fees like the hotel employees did. We had very quick turnover because if a patron complained, you were gone. If you can smile, know what you are doing and go out of your may to make people happy then its a goldmine. I had $1,000 nights if there was a wedding or some other function going on. The best were the young kids coming up with daddys money from the city. They would throw you $50 to go to the store and get them a pack of smokes. Had a very good guy that would come in for the weekend with a beautiful Rolls Royce Ghost. He would let me use it for the night to take the wife out as he never left the hotel until check out time. Had an absolute blast during the summer and I am also a veteran.

I hear vegas is even better....I usually tip anywhere from $2-$5 when I pick up my car...if you make $5 every 3-5 min, that is easily $100/hr....not to mention the rich guys that tip more. I assume the better the hotel the better the tips.

i've only heard as well, but those are supposed to be some of the toughest gigs to get in the whole town...at least at good places with big tippers like shdw01!

The company I worked for had business in vegas. The guys told me you get fired so quick that you may have 25 different jobs in 6 months. Heard the turnover out there is just insane. Everyone I knew that ever went out there came back within a few months. Not gamblers, just younger guys who thought they would go out there and live the life. If your doing valet just make sure its not a place that caters to business travelers. You will go broke as they DO NOT TIP. Also being in the taxi business you could make even more money getting your buddies to throw you a % of airport runs and stuff like that. If people needed to travel to Hartford or NYC I would book their rides and get $50 per NYC trip and $20-$30 per Hartford Airport trip. Get 2-3 every morning and get paid in cash.

Got to really know someone to get Valet at a decent spot in Vegas... otherwise you waste your time Valeting for welfare queens @ Zylberts favorite spots for betting sports like Jerrys Nugget or Silver Nugget, Opera House, Poker Palace, ect....

Am looking around know, checked out Werner Trucking and their company training program here in Vegas today, also looked at a couple Limo Jobs.... Think I might hit up Don Best and see if there is a job there lol.

Forgot how much fun job hunting could be.
