Very tricky game... At some point, playing four straight Top 12 opponents, all highly-charged, draining games vs conference opponents, taking the best shot from each of them.. has to add up.
I'm not sure if Tech is the one of those 4 to knock them off at the end of it, but what Texas is facing here is pretty unprecedented...
Actually Texas Tech is playing pretty good defense this year. Their giving up about 360 yards a game..Compare that to Texas who is giving up about 350 a game..Not a whole lot of difference. If you want to compare TT's defense to OU..TT gave up just 315 yards to Kansas on the road Saturday..OU gave up 491 to Kansas at home. This is a big reason why TT is still undefeated and in the top 10 this year.
SDF...I hear what your saying. And as a rule I take a strength of schedule play in high regard...But you know as well as I that SOS doesn't always come through for us like it should..Up to the point OU played Texas earleir this season, the Sooners also had a better strength of schedule than Texas in Playing Cincy and possible BCS team TCU. With the exception of Rice, Texas played a schedule against teams that were not only from inferior non-bcs conferences (except for Arkansas), all of these teams had losing records. But it didn't deter me from playing Texas against OU because I liked the way Texas was winning their games. And also I thought I was getting good line value with Texas getting 7 in a rivalry series..The situation with Texas Tech this week is much the same..Tech has been playing some weaker competetion in the Big 12. But I like the way their beating that competetion. And even though this competetion would be considered weak by many, it still has been BCS Big 12 competetion. And with the exception of Texas A&M, both Kansas, KSU and Nebraska all had winning records when they played Tech..And Tech has played 3 true road games in the Big 12 this season in some pretty hostile enviornments. Texas has only had one true road game, And that was against a 4-4 Colorado team who has really been struggling on offense. Texas is going against a TT tream who can really light it up..But more importantly are playing good defense. True it's been against weaker competetion. But you can't deny that despite their shortcomings on defense, Kansas has a pretty good offensive team..They piled up 434 yards on South Florida and 490 on OU. Both on the road..But manged only 315 yards total offense at home against Tech..This tells me a few things about Tech's defense..There wasn't anything flukey about that game last week..Tech just took it to them and pretty much smothered Kansas on defense and caused turnovers. What it comes down to is Texas is playing a team on the road who is statistically better on defense than Texas 4 previous opponents Colorado, Missouri, OU and OSU. And this is after Tech has played 3 pretty good offensive teams in Nebraska, Kansas and KSU. So even if you think Texas is going to win, you have to ask yourself, will they be able to cover?OK...you make comparisions to yards given up, but has Texas Tech played the power offenses of Mizzou, Oklahoma or Okie St yet?

I think that has a little something to do with why Texas Tech defense has done what it has.
I do agree they are playing pretty good defense. No doubt about that. But now they run into offensive buzzsaw's of Texas, Oklahoma and OkieSt. no easy task.

Whoever says Texas Tech or Texas is the lock of the year is irrelevant. They have ZERO effect on the game unless Jayhawk Kyle is going to be a streaker in Lubbock. Maybe he can cause a delay and take the football out of Colt McCoy's or Graham Harrell's hand.
