I love when people use the word lock. Texas beats the piss out of Texas Tech on Saturday.

Texas Tech at home in Lubbock. Cmon people, you are really undermining this Red Raider team. I could very easily see T-Tech come out firing and be up 21-0 to start the game. Also, their not going to punt in Texas territory at all, thanx to genious or crazy Leach. Their going to match or be better than Texas on offense. Won't be any defense in this game. Really not sold on the Longhorns defense either, they give up their fair share of points. It's the big 12 folks, you aren't going to see putrid offenses like yesterday in P-State and Ohio State, it won't be a 10-6 scoreline. You gotta like the points in this spot imo.

as a longhorn fan i am scared in this one. i think the majority of the posts in this thread have been idiotic and i am grateful for the lock jinx being thrown down on tech, but... the long horns D is a wreck and you have to wonder will they run out of energy in the second half.

how many top 10 undefeated teams can you beat in a row?

i hope 4.

Too bad not one of those teams has a defense... texas may actually lose a game if there were, don't see em losing to tech. Tech is okie state with no running game and a worse defense at that.

Right, okay, and Texas was at home and won by only 4pts. I know that's like 50 pts in SEC land, but too close for a team at home. Texas Tech is the play and should win outright.

This is basically the problem I'm having with the entire Big 12 this year..Their all playing touch football and with bad defense..Texas is on top right now because their playing just a little bit better defense than everybody else. But even Texas isn't playing good enough defense to win national championships..They gave up 416 yards at home to OSU and 425 total yards to OU. That won't get it done. If you want to look at good defensive teams this year look at Penn State, USC and Florida. All three of these teams could win the Big 12 South because they play better defense. Many may disagree with me right now..But i think your going to find that the cream rises to the top in November..And I think these 3 teams are going to be who's left standing. Texas might be able to win out and win this conference..But I have my doubts they can carry it over to a national championship. Texas could very well beat Texas Tech. It will probably be a close game. But the thing that I'll be looking at is if they give up 450 yards or more yards in outgunning the Red Raiders. I guarantee you a good quality defense like USC would take Texas Tech's run game away and hold them to under 400 yards total offense. This is the difference between the good and the great teams. To give you an example, USC played Arizona at Zona the other night and held a very good offensive team that averages over 400 yards total offense a game to 188 yards. This is what good defensive teams do. Same with Penn State. They had some problems offensively against OSU. But their defense is what won PSU the game on the road in holding OSU to just 287 total yards holding Beanie Wells to just 57 yards rushing... Texas and the rest of the Big 12 are going to have to start doing the same thing before I can start calling them contenders for a BCS Championship.

That depends on how many LEGIT top 10 teams you're actually playing. Tech is not a legit top 10 (they actually might be this year, but only because college football is crap this season). In a typical year only OU would be in the top 10 and Ok St, Tech and Missouri would be around the top 20 area, if that high. Talent wise Texas and OU are so far ahead of those three teams. Tech and Ok St rely on their offense to score 50 points a game. Ok St does it all with the running game and Tech passes every play. A good team will beat those type of frauds every time. Missouri is close to what Tech is, they rely on big passing numbers to win because they have zero defense. This is why those three teams (or any team like that) never beats any team worth anything.

If Texas comes to play they will win this game by double digits, no questions asked. On a neutral field I'd have them at -12.5 against Tech, so this line is a little low. Not sure I'll be on them because I hate playing road favorites, but I'd be very surprised if Tech hung with them the whole way through.

They are not beating TTU by DD in Lubbock.

Yes, TTU lacks a great defense and their runnig game is nowhere that of Okie State, but no team is more efficent with the pass then TTU.

The biggest advantage TTU will have on Saturday is Mike Leach's propensity to go on 4th Down. I am not sure that Texas, TTU, OU, and OSU can be stopped very often ove the course of 4 downs. I know this sounds some what strange, but part of makes TTU's offense so great, is they know they are operating with 4 downs, while other teams have 3 downs to get 10 yards.

Texas has always had a tough time in Lubbock and Saturday night will be know different.

This is total nonsense. Texas Tech has a number of NFL prospects on its roster and their offensive line is massive. Not beating anyone worth anything? How about Texas Tech beating Oklahoma last year (and it was a blowout for most of the game too).

Actually Texas Tech is playing pretty good defense this year. Their giving up about 360 yards a game..Compare that to Texas who is giving up about 350 a game..Not a whole lot of difference. If you want to compare TT's defense to OU..TT gave up just 315 yards to Kansas on the road Saturday..OU gave up 491 to Kansas at home. This is a big reason why TT is still undefeated and in the top 10 this year.

Seriously their defense looked a helluva lot better than Kansas' that is for sure.. after giving up the 2 early TDs they settled down and didnt allow anything the rest of that game, and Kansas clearly has a good offense.

Very tricky game... At some point, playing four straight Top 12 opponents, all highly-charged, draining games vs conference opponents, taking the best shot from each of them.. has to add up.

I'm not sure if Tech is the one of those 4 to knock them off at the end of it, but what Texas is facing here is pretty unprecedented...

Good example w/ OU/Kansas but compareing to Texas who has played OU, Okie St & Missouri while Tech faced E. Wash, SMU & UMass, Well this Tech alum hopes that they win But my money is on Texas.
