Well in that case you can say auburn was national champs in 2004
No organization recognized them as champions. The NCAA's official sports site lists the champions & what organization recognized them. All records indicate USC as 2 time champions in this decade, whether people like it or not.

ridiculous theory.
in this case there have been over 300+ national champs in the last 100 years. again, i say its Bama math.
does Pete Carroll really want to claim a title that was voted on by journalists instead of won on the field? If he does then i lose a lot of respect for him, but i think hes too proud to claim it. he sure as hell dont have the TROPHY or the RING to back it up.
Wrong, he claims the title, they won it on the field according to the AP & they do have a trophy for it.
Now I've heard it all...EGD has to be on acid tonight. Either that or Railbird's brother maybe?
Who did USC beat for the 2nd title they won? Cause i sure don't remember it?
And they will cry and wonder why they are ranked where they are.
Actually, I wonder.
Why are they ranked as high as they are - for struggling with Notre Dame? For getting outplayed by Ohio State? For losing to juggernaut Washington? For beating lowly Wash St by only 27?
Hmmmmm?
were does the AP get thier trophy? Jostens? Ebay? Wal-Mart? seriously, i can procalim Troy St 2009 national champs and ship them an old baseball trophy of mine with my name scratched out and TROY stenciled in but that doesnt mean Troy won a national championship.
USC did NOT win one despite the AP awarding thier own version. to WIN one you must win the title game. its not complicated, this is why we have the BCS. the pac-10 signed up to be a part of the BCS from day 1 and agreed to this system , thus they are governed by the BCS just like all the other teams/conferences that get money from it.
man, all that talent they had and we have a thread debating whether they have 1 or 2 titles to show for it...that says it all really.
Pretty sad attempt from an SEC homer who is obviously feeling threatened and chooses to react this way. Not only are these comments ignorant, they are also completely full of shit. Sagarain has USC's schedule at #11, so I have no idea what ass that #67 was pulled from. Scratch that, yes I do know...
1 Alabama A = 93.44 7 0 72.62( 26) 1 0 | 3 0 | 92.19 2 | 94.17 1
2 Florida A = 93.07 6 0 69.62( 46) 0 0 | 2 0 | 93.99 1 | 91.54 2
3 Southern California A = 89.46 5 1 75.97( 11) 0 0 | 3 1 | 87.45 8 | 91.28 3
4 Boise State A = 88.89 6 0 70.24( 38) 1 0 | 2 0 | 89.53 5 | 87.57 9
5 Iowa A = 88.85 7 0 74.13( 20) 0 0 | 2 0 | 91.66 3 | 86.00 11
6 Oregon A = 88.44 5 1 75.00( 15) 0 1 | 2 1 | 88.06 7 | 88.12 8
7 Virginia Tech A = 88.21 5 2 78.84( 2) 0 2 | 2 2 | 85.68 11 | 90.89 4
8 Cincinnati A = 87.92 6 0 66.91( 71) 0 0 | 3 0 | 90.44 4 | 85.23 12
9 Texas A = 85.76 6 0 68.55( 56) 0 0 | 1 0 | 82.48 15 | 89.76 5
10 Georgia Tech A = 85.58 6 1 76.57( 7) 1 0 | 1 1 | 86.52 9 | 84.02 15
The BCS like the AP is an organization, so save the win it on the field bs. Until college football gets a playoff, champions will be determined by recognized organizations. Whether you like it or not, USC did win a title that year & are recognized as doing so in the NCAA's record books.
So what is more official, your opinion or the record books that cover the sport itself?
End of discussion

The Associated Press.
The Press/Media--the same ppl that write about Brittany Spears wearing no panties and Kanye West VMA shit.
EGD has ZERO credibility on this board after these ludacris remarks.
(Insert EGD's rediculous reply here)
Sorry to you. The BCS has a contract with the Coaches' Poll to vote the winner of their championship game #1. The BCS wanted to get one with the AP, but the voters wouldn't go for it. By the way, next time you go to a Vols game, look at their BCS trophy. It says right on it USA Today Coaches Poll Champion.nope.sorry.
the pac-10 and USC have a contractual agreement with the BCS to have the winner determined in the BCS title game. the AP has no such contract with anyone. its a phantom title, just like half of Alabama's titles they claim from the first half of the 20th century
