There is definitely a blind spot with politics for most people. It isn't like sports where if you are a Bills fan and playing the Patriots, you kinda know what the deal is even if you're cautiously optimistic.

The political coverage is just so intense 24/7 and you can go wherever you want for your news that it allows people to create their own reality.

Unfortunately this creates even more polarization because then when their candidate loses they become even more disappointed. And even for the winning candidates, the disappointment is greater because obviously they can't do 1/10th of what they say they can.

What's the solution? Probably the Singularity, otherwise we're fucked. Definitely been an eye-opening 15 months that could turn even the most optimistic person to be very bitter and jaded.
