Looks like im not crazy, 3 FIRST place votes so far for HARD ROCK, that hotel is just different from all the rest.

Mandalay bay is getting alot of votes also, but actually only 1 first place vote.

Ballys (solid)
Treasure Island
Stardust (worst)
Imperial Palace (cheap and stinky)
Mandalay Bay (awesome)
MGM Grand (too big, we were in the farther towers)
Hilton (ok with a car back then)
Luxor (ok)

Im gonna assume this is a first place vote for Mandalay

so mirage is your fav?

By Far my Fav. Not even sure if I can find one thing wrong with it.

been going there for years, I have a good Host that takes care of just about anything I need.
The Pool area is one of the best, Food is Good ! Nice Sportbook, Racebook, nice size Poker room..Where the Hotel is,The Location is perfect.

Had plenty of party's/ get togethers there for Superbowl, Ncaa, etc.

I was there this past Feb. and will be staying there the first 5 night in Aug. before the Bash. They just re-did the Rooms, so I can't wait to see how they look.

Only a handful for me. I tend not to crash at the huge places...it's just not worth it to me to drop a grand on the hotel room alone for a weekend in Vegas, especially when you're not going to spend very much time in the room anyway. I'd rather put that money into play at the tables. If that makes me a cheap bastard, so be it.

- Excalibur: So-so. Stayed there a few times. May be the most family-oriented environment on the strip. For those of you who haven't been there recently though, you wouldn't believe what they've done with their sports book.

- PH: Last year's bash. Great room...would definitely stay there again if it wasn't overpriced. Was slightly bummed the bash wasn't held there again, but wil said they wanted an arm and a leg for the rooms if I remember right...

- Hilton: Not the greatest place on the strip, but I seem to do well playing there most of the time. Plus it's got a monorail station right in front so you can get to wherever you want to go on the strip within 10 minutes.

- Sahara: Yikes. When I was walking in the place, it looked okay from the outside. I wondered why it got such a bad rap...then I quickly found out why when I walked inside and checked into the room.

-IP: See Sahara, except for the "looks okay walking in from the outside" part.

- Golden Nugget: Easily the best place downtown. I'm curious to see what they've done with the place since the '05 bash...

- Hooters: Underrated, actually. Very reasonable room rates, it's a great place to gamble and the rooms may have the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on in a hotel. You'll earn players club comps much faster here than at one of the mega resorts. I'm sure there are much nicer places all over, but I guess this one wins my "favorite" pick by default.

I'm not a big stickler on where I stay-it's not like I do anything besides sleep in the room, but certain things do suck....such as a $30 basic breakfast that takes an hour to get(MGM-I had a food voucher, but fuck....an hour?) and the infamous "IP funk"....Good God, air the f'ing place out. Paris-$7 for a Bud Light? Fuck you.

I agree about the MGM being too big. I understand the concept, but sometimes you don't want to have to spend a half hour walking to the door.

Interesting topic. :103631605

I never been to Vegas, but I am planning to go there this year. The dollar is really low compared to the Euro and that makes it very cheap for us europeans to travel to the States.
I want to experience Vegas completely when I travel there, so I want to stay in a good hotel, at or close to the strip, during my stay.
Lot's of people here like the Hard Rock, how much rock is this hotel? I strongly dislike rock-music and I am more into the whole clubbing thing (electronic music), would that mean that the Hard Rock is not very suited for me?

If that is what you like then The Palms is for you. Hard Rock is just what it says, HARD ROCK.

Of course, the CLUB, (body english) plays some electronic music and such, kind of kool coz it is remixed with ROCK.

Palms is off strip tho so you might need a rent a car or take cabs, not far tho.

Most people who like HARD ROCK cant stand hip hop, electric shit, so dont expect much of it at HARD ROCK.

THing is, most casinos (if not all, even palms) do not blast music on the Casino floor, you have to go into the lounge or into the club to get the music, that is what makes HARD ROCK unique, there is always tremendous Rock and ROLL playing.

Tons and Tons of artifacts there as well

great minds think alike, that is just what I said :toast:. The Trust fund kids with their parents money flowing out of their pockets at the Palms make me sick, they are so pretentious it is amazing, nothing like the good old rock n roll crowd at all.

Despite all that, Palms is probably number 2 on the list for me, I prefer these off strip hotels, where you arent processed like just another sheep. Venetian, Mandalay, MGM in many ways are just like that..... bahh bahhh, money please next, bahhh bahhh, money please next.....

There is no reason why you cant stay at 4 or 5 different hotels during your stay, just make sure you dont check in between 12 and 5pm, lines are crazy, get the bellboy to hold your bags and check in very early or very late to avoid lines. Of course you can always do what I do which is simply go to the VIP PLAYER line, and even though I am not a VIP or PLAYER I simply make up some excuse and grease the check in girl a 10$ or 20$ bill.

Everything is about money in vegas, but since you are bringing POUNDS/EURO, you should be laughing.
