Very true.

Also, it might be interesting to show how many children of broken homes succeeded in life (not necessarily as far as becoming President) and how many did not, becoming criminals and living on welfare instead. This might water down the argument a little, I'd guess.

Perhaps so, but I don't view this advert as an argumentative venture.

Rather, it's more likely aimed at the very real segment of pregnant women who can handle having a baby but might be having undue anxiety and insecure thoughts about their future if they have a(nother) child.

I suppose in a pinch, we could roll out women who could honestly and confidently testify how terminating a pregancy was a tremendous benefit to them and to their families. But lacking any significant threat to current law, there's no need to rally such stark testimonials.

And pregnant women only have the right to decide if a guy will pay for a kid he doesn't want for 18 years, or not ever be able to have a child they do want.

Very true. The first part should provide strong inspiration to males in the USA to think with their big head before their little head.

And the second part should help educate males in the USA to understand that if their goal is to create a child they need to be very sure on the front end that they have a woman who is equally committed to the task.

...

Okay, if the goal of the advert is to keep pregnant women from hasty abortion decisions then there is nothing to be said against that, of course.

It sure is...a real ball stomper for the abortion crowd.

What the hell can they say?

They could say that a child fitting that description is far more likely to end up locked up and/or on welfare (and thereby being supported by your tax dollars after your taxes are raised) than being a productive citizen.

I'd heard about the ad, but this was the first time I've seen it.

Great ad. Even the pro abortion crowd has to admit that.

So the left can say something that is not PC...when it bails them out of a dead end postion on abortion?

No...they can't say that. It's racist. They have to follow their own rules.

Next?

As I have not heard directly from the sponsors of the ad, I can't say for sure what their "goal" message was, but I do believe that this short 20 seconds or so could be of benefit to that particular segment of pregnant women.

I'd be interested to see something from NBC where they specifically reject the ad based on content.

Anyone should be able to say what isn't PC and if you think I'm a left winger then you're wrong. This ad is typical of the anti-abortion crowd; babbling "your child could be legendary" while ignoring the fact that the child is hundreds of times more likely to be supported by taxpayers, including far-right morons who will bitch to no end about taxes being raised.

The ad makes a fantastic point in which the anti-abortion crowd has no real answer for.

Your answer that its about cost is pathetic.

Let's go back to slavery then too...based on "cost", it makes sense.

I believe I've given a completely legit answer; yes, it is all about cost. If you don't think so then go live in an overcrowded third world country (and notice how many people are trying to flee) where the government simply doesn't have the resources to maintain a stable society. That's where the US is headed.

what the ad does address is that false "a child needs a materialistic upbringing" the left essentially likes to use as one of their arguments.

Leave it to abortionists to twist it's point. It's not addressing every false argument abortionists make, that would take too much time. That's a short novel.

MJ, just because you choose to ignore every point abortionists make does not mean they have no answer.

Edge, for the umpteenth time, there is a huge qualitative difference between a human being (even one close to death) and a fetus. If you ignore this difference you necessarily come to wrong conclusions.

No..only SOME people are intrusive enough to want to lock up Dr K for his helping other American adults realize their personal wish to end their own life.

The people most likely to cheer for Dr K to be put in prison are the same one who want to put into prison American women who choose to terminate an unwanted embryo.

American women who choose to terminate an unwanted embryo.

Weasel words...as Orwell instructed us to watch out for by manipulators of thought.

Mothers and Fathers, grandpa's and grandma's, sisters and brothers never talk about an embryo or a fetus.

It's a baby...in all common parlance.

Except for clinicians that vacuum out their heads...and abortionists that try to portray it as something lesser, to make killing them more palatable.

You've obviously never been involved in terminating an unwanted pregnancy.

If so, you'd know that no one in the family wastes any time imagining a future "baby" when the female involved decides to flush out the unwanted embyro (85% of abortions) or the unwanted fetus (14% of abortions).

Embyros of course have no "head" to be vacuumed and except in tiny percentage of abortions, even the unwanted fetuses are barely formed.

The anti-choice folks all want to portray every termination as a full bodied infant in a sailor suit or Easter dress.

Spare me the sillyness while we thank God we live in The United States of America
