Enough with the language, this forum is probably one of the most civil of all of our fourms. If you disagree with someone fine but next time I see you calling posters or mods assinine or idiotic because they make a simple statement about a horse it will be your last in this forum. Please remember you are being given this warning in good faith.

FWIW - I doubt RA will run more than two more races tops (and maybe none) before she is retired and starts having multi-million dollar foals. The insurance premiums alone when she races are enough to hasten her retirement. Curlin paid $3,000,000 a year in insurance premiums as a 4 year old making it nearly impossible to earn a substantial profit despite winning The 2008 Dubai Cup with a purse of $6,000,000 and $3.6M to the winner.

Right now this animal can only lesson her value as a stud mare by losing a race such as The Belmont in three weeks, or races such as The BC $2,000,000 Fillies and Mares Turf Classic or The $2,000,000 BC Ladies Classic (both against older fillies) or even the $5,000,000 BC Classic (against the best mature horses in the world)

Enough BC speculation as it is months away still.

RA is due to workout at Churchill on May 25th. A workout that should go a long way towards convincing trainer Steve Asmussen and principle owner Jess Jackson whether or not to enter the filly in the Belmont last won by a filly just two years ago in 2007 with Rags to Riches and jockey John Velazquez by a head on the last jump over a game Asmussen trained Curlin after a thrilling stretch run..

Waiting for her in a short field will be Mine That Bird who was sired by Birdstone, who upset Smarty Jones with a blazing stretch run to win the 2004 Belmont. Based on the gelding’s pedigree, the added distance should not be a problem.

Among the trainers who started Preakness also-rans, few wanted another run against Rachel Alexandra or Mine That Bird. Only D. Wayne Lukas expressed interest in the Belmont, with Flying Private, who was fourth in the Preakness.

There will be several new faces in the Belmont though, including Charitable Man, among the best 2-year-olds in the country last year. He was held out of the Derby after a poor effort in the Blue Grass Stakes over a synthetic surface, but he rebounded with a win in the Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont, a track he obviously likes.

Another candidate is Dunkirk, the Florida Derby runner-up, who had a horrible trip in the Derby on his way to an 11th-place finish, but whose owners and trainer see the Belmont as a more suitable test with a small field chances of a bad trip lessen.

BTW..2007 was it for Rags to Riches who ran her last race in the $250,000 Gazelle Stakes at Belmont Park on September 15th 2007 but finished second to Lear's Princess. The filly resumed training at age 4. Then on March 24, 2008, trainer Todd Pletcher announced that Rags to Riches had re-injured her right front pastern and was retiring. Rags gave birth to her first foal a filly by Giant's Causeway on March 9, 2009. Both are doing well.

Anyway gynecologist , there is no reason to insult anyone on this forum regarding their opinion. This forum is here for civil and courteous discussion about horse racing. Talk horses all you want but show a little civility please.

Your cooperation will be very much appreciated.

First of all, IF Rachel Alexandra runs in the Belmont she WINS FOR FUN, by 10 lengths or more on a fast dry track....Calvin Borrrrrrel doesn't look back twice this time and is waiting at the finish line for the rest.

Secondly, there isn't anyone entered that can stay with and match the speed of Rachel Alexandra upfront. She will have her way upfront and will have plenty of gas left when she buries the field, IF she runs.

Should Rachel Alexandra run??? It would be good for the sport of horse racing, especially the intriguing match-up vs Mind That Bird in the 3rd leg of the triple crown. What other story line would be left for the Belmont???

Other than Rachel Alexandra, Mind That Bird and possibly Muskett Man the 3 year old crop is pathetic at best. The rest obvious scored their victories beating all the rest of the crappy three year olds out there and taking shots at each other. A HORRIBLE crop of three year olds after those three mentioned. You listen to guys like trainers Larry Jones and Bob Baffert say their horses are ready and they finish 20plus lengths back from the winner LOL.

To all those touting new/fresh horses the only reason new/fresh horses are being mentioned is because owners/trainers feel it is worth a shot the way this group of three year olds has looked. I understand their willing to get into the frey especially IF Rachel Alexandra and Mind That Bird are out of the Belmont, one or both. But if BOTH are entered the rest are running for third at best.

DO NOT and I REPEAT DO NOT get caught up in all the fresh horse talk if track conditions are good and BOTH Rachel Alexandra and Mind That Bird are healthy, training well, and entered. One only needs to look at all the BRAIN DEAD Ham'n Eggers that were touting Big Drama and Take the Points in the Preakness LOL. Ok Big Drama was sitting 2nd for a good portion of the race until his lack of class and ability caught up to him finishing a fading 5th from the winner. Take the Points was a no show and had to tip toe his way into the barn LOL....BECAREFUL OF ALL THE FRESH HORSE TALK and ENTRIES!!!

To anyone that knows horse racing committment aside, a jockey who takes himself off the Kentucky Derby winner to ride another horse spoke volumnes as to the quality of Rachel Alexandra. Calvin Borrrrel was talking before the Derby had Rachel Alexandra opted for the Derby she was his choice. His decision spoke volumnes to those that listened...

GO BABY GO!!!

Yours in Winners
Bernie

P.S. If Rachel Alexandra doesn't run in the Belmont and Mind That Bird does run BECAREFUL!!! There won't be any speed upfront for Mind That Bird to shoot at and this could pose a problem for Mind That Birds running style. We could see big BOXCAR MUTUALS should this occur...

Rachel Alexandra galloped early Sunday morning under exercise rider Dominic Terry.

The filly's status for the Belmont has not been decided. She has won six consecutive stakes events in a string that started with last fall's Golden Rod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs.

Rachel Alexandra is also scheduled to work for the first time since her May 16 Preakness victory on Monday, May 25th at Churchill Downs. She is scheduled to head to the track with the second set of horses for trainer Steve Asmussen around 6:15 a.m. (EDT).

Rachel Alexandra; filly's Belmont status pending

Rachel Alexandra cruised a half-mile in :50 1/5 under exercise rider Dominic Terry, with a steady rain pelting the filly during much of her first work since her historic triumph in the second jewel of the Triple Crown on May 16 at Pimlico.

Majority owner Jess Jackson of Stonestreet Stables said a decision of the Belmont S. status of Rachel Alexandra would not be made until next week at the earliest. Rachel Alexandra is scheduled to work then, and her camp would know more after that effort.

"As I have said before, it is up to her," Jackson said. "She will blow out next Monday, and that will tell us more

"It's not necessary that she go in the Belmont. She's got a whole season ahead. She's been running the whole year so we have to monitor that very carefully. It might not be as soon as you'd want, but we're still considering the Belmont."

Rachel Alexandra came on the track shortly before 6:30 (EDT) Monday, accompanied by a pony with assistant trainer Scott Blasi aboard, and walked around to the paddock runway. At 6:35, Rachel Alexandra eased her way down the half-mile pole and began her move.

A brief, but heavy, rain shower started to pelt the track as she entered the far turn, just about the time she clocked :12 3/5 for her opening furlong. With the rain pouring down, she continued through splits of :25 and :37 1/5 and galloped out five furlongs in 1:04 1/5.

The move was uncharacteristically slow for Rachel Alexandra, who typically worked fast for former trainer Hal Wiggins. It is fairly routine, however, for the Steve Asmussen stable, which rarely sends its horses out for fast works. Asmussen said he was pleased with the work.

Following her work, Jackson huddled with Borel, who has ridden Rachel Alexandra throughout her winning streak of six consecutive stakes races, and Jerry Hissam, Borel's agent. Jackson said that Robby Albarado, the rider of his two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, could be called on to ride Rachel Alexandra if the decision was made to run the filly in the Belmont and Borel already had another Belmont riding commitment

And the saga continues ........

No training, just exercise works. IMO she does not run in the June 6th Belmont Stakes. And the filly's camp stalling tactics could put Calvin Borel out of the third leg of the triple crown races also. gl
