1) I don't follow horse racing closely. I heard the "experts" saying over and over again this was the weakest derby fav ever
2) With the sometimes enormous derby payouts, I normally take a shot with long shots and try for the home run (several posters who handicap horse racing in that thread echo'd this sentiment btw - you just chose to ignore that) Although last year I bet American Pharoah but even he had better paying odds then Nyquist.
3) 2-1 in a 20 horse field where half the horses get taken out in the first turn due to traffic did not seem very +ev to me.
Anyway, nice job on cashing the ticket. Im heading out to Churchill Sunday and hopefully I have a little better luck than I did derby day.
