Horseshoe,
Oh yes, there are so many nutty horse players, when a stranger tells me that he bets the ponies, I take a couple of steps back. Horse bettors' behavior at the window is so bizarre.
I hope that I am recalling the details below correctly, because it has been about 3 years since I heard this story.
Re Art leaving the LV Hilton. I don't have independent confirmation, but I believe it (given the source).
Recall that there was an announcement that the entire Hilton (former International) complex was being sold. I think the buyer was Ed Roski, Jr. In recent years, the place was scheduled to be sold a few different times, but I think this was in the later half of year 2000.
And Art announced his departure from Hilton and he landed a position with Stations Casinos. Then the sale of the Hilton was cancelled and Art attempted to get his old job back with Park Place Entertainment.
But Park Place told Art that his services were no longer required. They told him "you submitted your resignation and it has been accepted." Chuck Esposito, A.V.P. of Race & Sports Operations at Caesars had already been promoted to be the only chief oddsmaker for all of the Park Place properties.
Thank You
Dweeb
