OF,

I haven't heard of too many recently 86ed players due to the lower limits and the lack of "real" players as you call them. Then again not much to get 86ed for these days.

I wouldn't worry about being tracked by a book. If you beat them playing nickels and dimes highly unlikely they boot you anytime soon. Besides you probably will find you are giving them almost no action, you almost always will find a better number offshore. It is so rare to find a good number in Nevada anymore that I don't even bother trying myself.

Still surprised no one else backs me on Barleys. The place is essentially a bar, a book, a restaurant, and a hundred slots with a couple of tables. Most convenient place around if you live anywhere south of the Strip and never crowded really. Food is good and no real casino to hassle with. If you have never stopped in I highly suggest it.

NICKYTHEFISH - "King you can hand them 10 dimes but you can't wager more than 2200 in a 24 hour period. Those are GCB rules."

Nonsense. Besides that it makes no sense.

A) 10 dimes is more than 2200, last time I looked.
So anotherwords "you hand them 10 dimes", but because of the 2200 limit they book the bet at 2200 and keep the remaining 7800 for themselves?

B) There is not a limit on sports wagering of 2200 during a 24 hour period.
This is not and never has been a GCB rule.

Did you just make this up? Was this a serious post?

Scooter, I think you are correct that there is no 24 hour limit. At least I've never heard of that. But you seem to have a major malfunction understanding something very simple in Nickythefish's post. He is ( I agree, mistakenly ) under the impression that you can only wager $2200 dollars in a 24 hour period. If you deposited $10,000 with the book,he's obviously saying you would still have with them a balance of $7,800. All the best---

Thanks mos. Wasn't thinking about phone accounts - which barely exist these days.

I like Kornegay's props and BMing from IP days, also have loved SuperBook's back entrance and parking lot as a favorite book.

The SuperHilton has always had max limits, cold Heineken quickly available, a close-by phone bank, Benihana's, LeMontrachet, a bad diner, spacious bar in rear of SB, the comfy football helmet chairs & horsebook booths, quick paying,etc..

I just hope they don't turn the lights up too much, as I actually loved it's darkness to watch the games on the big screens, it was once my favorite SB to hang in..is practically adjoined to LVCC golf corse.

The larger electronic boards were however a long overdue must.

We will try and get Fezzik to list his 10 least favorite sports books in a later column.

It is 100% true, phone and any online betting arrangements such as the Stations setup, are limited to 2200 per day. You give 10 dimes and you can only play it 2200 per day, but it isn't like they take your money it still stays in your account.

Thanks Leonardsports and WildBill.

And my apologies to NICKYTHEFISH. Totally my mistake. I was confused, not you, after I misinterpeted your post.

I thought the 2200 limit was referring to over the counter bets.
Was not thinking about phone and online.

I never tried to set up a phone/online account, but bet over the counter.

Sorry Fish Head,

Couldn't disagree more with you.

I would put all the Stations casinos at the bottom of my list.

Here are references. Read all about Ron Boyles and what happened to him.

Art Manteris is not on my list of good sports book directors -- and when he moved to the Stations, I stopped visiting there.

If you want to be banned because you win too often, then by all mean, Stations is your place.

When if first opened, the Superbook was so dark, and those huge chairs were so plush -- man that was the place to watch a game.

Now, well -- what does the SuperBook have over any other place? They put the buffet in the sports book, they filled the room with slot machines, only about 1/4 of the room is devoted to sports now -- they ruined it.

See my post above.

As soon as Art Materis moved over to Stations, I stopped using my account at Stations. He is just the sort of guy who would check how often you are winning -- and close your account. He only wants losers.

Hey Fish ,

A total novice / never lived there question.

Can a local open phone accounts at these sportsbooks ? I would hate to think one would have to run from shop to shop to get something down.

Answer:
in Las Vegas, only for residents:
Leroys horse and sports books
Stations sports books
Coast sports books
Stardust Sports book

and I guess Excalibur still offers phone accounts, but they limited me to $100 a play -- so goodbye Excalibur (Circus Sports Books, part of the Mandalay Resort Group).

Thanks
Dweeb

Could I walk in and hand them 10 grand and call in plays ?

Thanks

Answer: see the other posts here. You are limited to $2,200 a day -- unless you want to fill out some special paperwork and be approved by the Gaming Control Board for more than $2,200 a 24 hour period.

Thanks

Omnivorous Frog- Excellent post. Las Vegas is a complete has been in the sports betting industry. This city has zero impact in the overall sports betting picture and it's been that way for quite some time. The sportsbooks here are there as part of the overall hotel-casino operation. They only want square action and rube tourists betting those juice heavy parlay cards.

These places are taking in tons of money on the tight slots, overpriced rooms and overpriced food. They have no intention of letting any wiseguys come in and beat them on a regular basis at sports betting. If the Las Vegas sportsbooks closed down tomorrow, I would have to search for a week to find ten people that would care.

All I mentioned was SUNSET over GREEN VALLEY RANCH.

I agree with what your saying.

SUNSET mainly makes my top 20 because to me there is no better place to watch a game in town.

Dweeb, I've heard somewhat the same in the last years, but to Art's credit he would once-upon-a-time let people play(even if he and Chuck sweated the action), but would agree somewhat that for a disciple of PJ Franzi, a friend of Vaccaro, and a man that learned under some greats, with a stint in the always hospitable Gaughan family Barbary..he isn't as inviting in charm & hospitality it seems.

But if I were a hotel owner, I would have to consider him amongst the best, and a guy that I wouldn't fear being outworked or outsmarted by the people firing into my place..he's got a graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh..Jack(School of Sports) that is!

Chuck Sims, I totally agree, and if there is a nicer hotel owner than Michael Gaughan, or friendlier & more hospitable sportsbook management that Coast Properties, then I wish someone would tell me..they're all excellent!

To Fish Head,

Yes, agree.

Several of the Stations properties are very nice for watching the games.

Even I must admit that I occationally "borrow" their facilities for a game or two. Then I sneak out when everyone is queuing up to collect -- because I placed my wager somewhere else.

Thank You

Horseshoe,

One thing that is well known about Art Materis -- he is a yeller and screamer with his employees, particularly his supervisors (not so much with his writers). Not easy to work for someone like that.

When someone does that stuff all the time to their employees -- I, as a bettor, am very wary.

When I bet, and I'm watching the game -- I am the calmest guy in the building, whether I am winning or losing -- and I simply don't understand sports book managers that can't keep their cool.

Thank You

I didn't know that Dweeb, but now that you mention it, the SuperHilton supers always did seem like a very subdued bunch(beaten down?)

You would have to wonder even with BMing's things to sweat, why the all screaming taking 11/10?

However, the player side of the counter has plenty of raving lunatic screamers and office Alphas.

Ego and pissing contests are far too much involved in this industry..it's a real bore.
