I'm pretty confident FSU won't make it even with a win. They won games in conference against very weak opponents and face a 3 loss team in their conf championship. The committee won't put them in with their best player (QB) out for the season. Can you imagine a FSU without him vs Georgia? Lol. They won't be in no matter what they do. The committee puts in who they think are the 4 BEST teams. They aren't one of them with no fault of their own.

Possible I guess

But the comittee doesn't necessarily put in the 4 best. That's just the language they use

If they were considering the 4 best, Florida State and Washington would not be in the conversation. Georgia would also be in no matter what

Yeah they leaned this exact thing last season with TCU.

Alabama with a win is not getting left out. No way! No chance of that happening. Why have conference championship games?

I don't know who the other 3 teams would be, Right or wrong, I think Georgia WOULD be one of them and then you're looking at Michigan and Texas.

Those 4 teams are probably the best scenario for the committee.

FSU won't be at Louisville. And a 1 loss Washington and Oregon can go to the local arcade and play their gun-slinging style offenses and swiss cheese defenses while the adults play for the national championship!

The assumptions from you get wilder and wilder. Since when is a selection based on who is playing? You just proved a point you are blinded by your bias bet on OS.

I think that there is a decent chance that FSU loses to Louisville. However, if Alabama beats Georgia, they could be left out if Michigan, Washington, FSU and Texas win. No matter what, there are going to be a couple of very disappointed schools that get left out. Next year, with it going to 12 teams will eliminate this kind of thing.

A lot of great conversation and opinions in this thread and truly enjoy that nobody is bashing. There is always going to be disagreement but that's what you get with strong personalities on a forum like this.

I generally don't post much but enjoyed this thread because of the mathematics involved.

I like to read how people problem solve and come to their solution for these final 4. It's interesting to me.

As my final post in this thread my prediction based on nothing more than handicapping the games leaves me with 4 winners SU......

Georgia
Michigan
Texas
Oregon

Georgia beats Oregon
Texas beat Michigan

Texas beats Georgia.

BOL to all your plays this weekend!

In a "team" sport is it fair to keep FSU out if they are undefeated? I don't think so. While likely they have 0 shot that is what sports is about.....letting it play out to find out.
That was the morons argument against TCU. "They got destroyed by Georgia they shouldn't have been there"
FOH. Blame it on Michigan then.

Why is that

Again, if Bama wins, no way no SEC team gets in.

There will be two one loss SEC teams, one or even both will get in.

5 of the last 6 national champions came from the SEC. Do you consider that a coincidence?

The committee picks what they think are the 4 best teams. FSU isn't one of them with their best player out. It's as simple as that. Its happened before.

  • Georgia
  • Michigan
  • Washington
  • Oregon
  • Texas
  • OSU
  • Bama

And it is trash by them. "Think".
How many times has everyone thought a team is better or could never win a championship and do? I dont like it. JMO
