I think their only path is:

-Oklahoma State win
-Georgia win
-Michigan win
-Louisville win

They should get the 4 seed in that scenario. The Pac-12 game is meaningless IMO -- winner of that game is in, loser is out

They likely will be #6 in the CFP rankings just ahead of Texas, but I would expect Texas to jump them if they take care of business against Oklahoma State
I guess there is the weird scenario that maybe Texas wins very ugly or something and they don't leapfrog Ohio State (if Ohio State is in fact still above them)

I think that is extremely unlikely though

FSU is out no matter what they do this week. Their game with Louisville is irrelevant

You think so?

That's bold IMO. I can't see them leaving a 13-0 team P5 champ out (though I hope you're right)
I think so simply because they have no QB and a very weak schedule

I would like to think you're right, but again I can't see it happening if they haven't lost

They would get drubbed in the playoff though. Good god what would the line be against Georgia or Michigan lol

Ohio St will not get in ahead of Georgia even if they lose. In fact it makes it even more likely they don't/
Winner of Washington/Oregon is in.
Michigan is in.
Texas is in with a win. No way you put Ohio St ahead of Texas. NO way with the Big 12 title and only 1 loss.
If Texas loses that is Ohio St only chance. It would be interesting if Florida St wins and Texas loses to see them scramble to explain Ohio St getting in over Florida St especially if the QB plays good. I could definitely see it as Ohio St probably is better.

Agreed 100% about Georgia. Georgia has to win

Pretty much agreed with all. Texas could get left out though with a win, but not because of Ohio State.

What is interesting though is what happens if Alabama beats Georgia for the rest of the playoff field

UGA/Bama game is the deciding factor for other teams being disappointed. If Alabama beats Georgia, they are both in. The committee has already showed in the past that the SEC is weighted much heavier than other conferences and with just cause.

But the other side of the coin says that if Michigan, FSU, and Washington all take care of business how do you explain 3 teams being 13-0 left outside looking in?

My gut tells me that FSU, and Washington will lose. Michigan will win and be in.

Oregon, Georgia, Michigan will all be in imo.

Given my scenario of Washington and FSU losing, that leaves Alabama, Texas and Ohio St. as the final team in.

Alabama is in with a win.
Texas is in with a win and a Alabama loss
Ohio St. is in with a Texas loss and Alabama loss.

Thinking about it a little more, how does Alabama win and get in with a Texas win? Is Alabama deserving even if they win and Texas wins?

How do you omit Texas with a win against Alabama earlier in the year?

No matter what happens, there will be universities screaming about being left out.

Personally, I hope Washington, FSU, Michigan and UGA all win! I want to see the committee leave a 13-0 team out! 😂

I think FSU is out, even if they win. They slid down 1 spot even after they won last week due to their QB injury.

Respectfully Ohio state is out.

As competitive as football as been all year no conference will get 2 teams in this year. Even if the dominos fall right and there is chaos. A 1 loss Georgia will trump a 1 loss Ohio state.

Michigan is in.
Wash/Oregon winner is in

2 spots left.
Georgia, Alabama winner would both be ahead of OSU
Texas with a win would be ahead of OSU
Florida state with a win would be ahead of OSU
Georgia with a loss would still be ahead of OSU
Depending the score of the pac 12 game, Washington with a loss would still be ahead of OSU.

the ranking will bear out today OSU 6. But reality is, even with chaos they’ll never get higher than 5 moving forward.

You are right about a lot but contradict yourself a couple times

You just said no conference will get 2 bids but suggested SEC and PAC 12 both could

Also disagree about Washington. Ohio State will most likely be ahead of them if Oregon beats them. I agree it’s at least a debate but Ohio State more than likely gets the nod there

The only possible scenario would be:

Texas losing
Oregon losing
Alabama losing
Florida state losing

this weekend.

that would put Michigan, Washington, Georgia all clearly in and the committee having to chose between 1 loss Florida state and 1 loss Ohio state. That would be the only way you’d be able to put them in.

I think they both could over OSU but I don’t think either happen.

Washington with a close loss to Oregon. Would have a better win than OSU, having beaten Oregon, along with 2 other ranked victories.

Washington would be a 1 loss team. Undefeated regular season. Win over top 3 team in the country, and two other top 25 wins.

Ohio state didn’t go undefeated in regular season, only has 2 ranked wins, and zero wins inside the top 10.

can’t really be argued. Unless we are using the subjective “eye” test.

True crazy things have happened. However if you truly believe Ohio state gets in. It’d be wise to throw some coin on it. I think I saw it like +1500 or 1600 somewhere for them to get in.
