Kentucky 2009 = Best Recruiting Class Ever????

Fact is this about one and doners ...

The stupid NBA tells these kids they have to go to school for 1 year.
As a coach, you start recruiting kids at Sophomores (even Freshman) in high school. So when the hype starts coming in that they could be the next LeBron are you suppose to stop recruiting that kid? You get the best available players for your team.

Not every year is going to be one and done for Cal. He will have a player every year, but not like this year. He needed TALENT this year, so he went out and got the best to bring UK back on the map.

Dean Smith won his, talk to me when Cal wins one and like I said he is not a great coach, great recruiter or great at stealing recruits yes.

Second off Coach Cal is a great coach. Because he hasn't won a title, it makes him awful? Give me a break. It took Dean Smith over 20 years at the same school to win a championship ... and I guess he is a real loser.

yeah that guy can recruit. its a good year for memphis high school talent too. between memphis, UT and UK they will sign like 12 of the top 50 players in the nation comign in next year. and the vols have 2 of the top 30 for 2011 already commited too - im excited. all 3 of these schools are like in a 3-4 hr raduis from where i live in different directions. a couple years ago the state of TN had like 5-6 teams in the ncaa 64 at one time. this area is really becoming a basketball hotbed and its fun to watch. ive said before UK/UT will be like UNC/Duke to this generation...i guess memphis will be like the wake forest

haha too true. ive got plenty iof family members that are UK fans and i have followed them closely since the days on kenny walker. the swag is back in lexington for damn sure. as a vol fan, i wish calipari would go on to the NBA. im a hater ill admit and wish UK was still in the richie farmer days, id sure rather play WVU than UK

I see no truth in 90% of the time KY wins that game. WV has good players and a better in-game coach. WV also was missing one of their top players, and a PG which is often the key player on the team, and still led for over half the game.

KY gave WV the outside game in the first half so Huggy took it and drained a lot of 3s. In the 2nd half when KY extended the defense, WV took it inside. Smart coaching. I didnt see the same adjustments from Cal. Just keep shooting 3s even if you're 0-22 from that range. Huggy got the best of Cal last night.

i think you'll find only the best coaches will get the most from 1 and done players and we'll continue to see more coaches shy away from recruiting them. 1 and dones tend to be focused on getting to the NBA, not a national championship.

Cal is a great recruited and he's certainly a very good coach, but not quite a great coach yet.
