If Cavs win the series, it won't be the greatest upset......also, the commentators before the game were saying if Lebron & the Cavs win 2 str, & win the series, he's the best player they have seen in past 25 years......they're sniffing glue IMO.......the NBA has changed so much since Jordan played.

What was the greatest finals upset to you?

Hmm.....that I've watched, I don't know......2006 Miami over Dallas? Miami down 0-2 in the finals came back to win the title.

Yeah but they had D Wade and Shaq, they were like +125 to start the series IIRC

It's just like I said earlier in the thread, once 2 teams play a best of 7 and a team wins, it really isn't gonna be considered an "upset"

Like Pistons in '04 were +600 but by the time that series was over it was clear they were the better team that year.

No matter what happens, if Cle won this series it would be considered a big upset after Irving went down.

This would be the biggest one ever.
Its such a big upset that it probably won't even happen.

See, Pistons being +600 vs Cavs being +180 is a big difference, & Pistons would be the biggest upset looking at just the odds.

We don't have many big upsets in the NBA like we do in college football or the NFL, or MLB......

Clevelands series odds before it started was based on KI playing . He did not get ruled out till overtime of game one.

After game one Cleveland was +700.

So you can't really go off of the pre series odds in this case.

If Irving was out to start the series I think it would've been like +450ish probably.

The difference is if Cle won this, it would still be considered an upset most likely.

When other "upsets" happened, they were just viewed as the wrong team was favored, like we discussed earlier.

Would it be a bigger upset than the miracle on ice?

Yes that's the best way to put it.
If Cleveland were able to pull this off(which is unlikely) nobody will be saying the wrong team was favored.

What were the betting odds on that?

Not sure, if someone could find out that'd be cool. I'd put the odds at about 1000-1 pre tournament future bet.

Warriors came out to play tonight. So sick of the lebron and cavs talk by all these clowns on abc. They were all excited early on and swinging on lbj's nutsack until the warriors shut em up.

Lebron looked totally spent. He's played a lot of minutes. This was his "flu" moment and likely would have been the dagger, but he didnt have it in him.

Found a thread on 2+2 that said the Tyson/Douglas fight was a bigger upset then MOI.

I disagree.

I think the Tyson/Douglas fight was more a case of false perception.

Tyson should have been favored in that fight. No doubt.
But in hindsight the fight did not turn out to be as big of an upset as it looked.

Shortly after that fight Tyson started showing he was human.

True upsets for titles are somewhat rare after looking back at all the factors that caused the upset.

Not very many upsets truly stand up to the test of time.

Like about 5 years ago when app st beat Michigan first game of the season.

After the game was over people started calling it historic.
Yes the lesser team won and the better team lost.

But by the time the season ended UM had a horrible season that year and app st won the D-AA national championship .

So by the end of the season we learn that it was not the historic upset we thought .

But MOI has stood the test of time.

My one problem with Lebron being one of the best is that he had Bosh (26) and Wade (29) with him in their prime and lost to Dallas in the finals where he didn't show up in the 4th quarter of any game.

This year with Cle they had the most talented team in the league and they were 53-29. Love was rated as the 7th best player in the league by SI preseason. They should have been a one seed.
