Why can't our fur babies live as long as a parrot?

I feel your pain as I have felt it before and not looking forward to the next time. Always liked this poem below. Hope it provides some comfort in this difficult time.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks, Love the Rainbow bridge poem

Very sorry to hear

They become family

The kids have wanted one for a few years now & I have put it off because it's a 2nd job and I don't like to face the heartache later that you're going through right now.

But I finally gave in & getting them one right before Christmas.

Do you have other pets still BAS?

Yeah 2 more Cats, will turn 2 on the new year ( born were July 2017 ) Brother and Sister

they were a replacement for the two I last lost, which were brothers and were RagDolls ( great breed ) * look them up, and if you can somehow find them without paying, jump on it. ( you might be able to get them without papers, that's how I got them )

of course over the years we have gone the adoption route, but always get them young. Yes I know adult cats need a home too
just thought it would be a problem being there always seems to be an overlap and didn't want to bring in an older cat with one or two already home.

Not really a second job, just clean the litter box. Never had them on Wet food, dry food which I use a feeder so I don't have to keep on putting food in a bowl
a little wet food once in a while, Tuna, etc...
Water Feeder as well, but needs to be cleaned good every 5-6 days

I use to declaw the front paws, but I no longer believe in it. Over seeing one of our kittens go through it, Never again
But they do need to be fixed, which as long as you go through adoption or a Pet store, they should be fixed.

If you're getting a Male, red tabby are Great in my opinion. Their personality is Great, and great with young kids
for Females I like calico, a little sweeter then most females

Not even remotely close to being even a little stupid. Very manly in fact. Our furry friends need our love and care and return it back 1,000 fold.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem brings a tear to my eye every single time.

Sorry for your loss BAS.

Not stupid at all! More people should feel that way about their furry family members.

When I'm on my Easy Boy chair, my cat likes to hop on my chest and purr itself to sleep.

Wow, sorry to hear that Matty ...

That's gotta be really hard, 5 years old ?? Did the Vet say why ?

Enlarged heart. Ended up causing a pulmonary embolism. They are non-reversible and obviously don't discriminate on age...

It just hurts (I've shed a tear and called his name everyday since and don't care what people think) because I have other cats that are 12-15 years old that I was thinking would be gone first. I shouldn't pick favorites, but he was also my fav because of his outgoing personality and up in your face tude. He was quite the talker. My best friend for sure (once again don't care what people think)...

I had him cremated (first animal I've done) so he can come with me when I move and such...

wow, that sucks.. and the one before this one was my favorite and he passed at 12, and I was like how does he go before the oldest ??
I was beside myself last year when that happened. You could talk to me for weeks and I still can't talk about him, and it's a year and half later...

Have been doing the cremated thing for 18 years now, before that pet cemetery.
with the cremation we only take a small amount, placed in a piece of jewelry. she doesn't wear them, but put in a box for safe keeping

yeah I know. I just don't think people get that attached with a fish tank... but agree when we were kids it was sad
and then your parents would go out and replace it with a new one hoping you wouldn't notice it was a new one.
