Sounds good. Let's reopen the FLORIDA RX Topic early next week to narrow it down.

As noted in my comments just above, we're taking about 7-10 days off from wagering while we focus on some other projects and also while we tweak some of our capping variables.

Having the Wed evening break to 'real life' should be a nice aide for the brain.

Jones- Best of hardball luck sir.

I took a flyer with POLLARDS VISION at SET odds of 26-1 at Pinnacle to win the derby.

Hoping for a sloppy track.

Morning line is 20-1 and I see PV going off anywhere from 15-1 to 30-1 and no higher so I gobbled up the 26-1 now.

ps- I have no idea what I am taking about....please note.

First there is an obvious error above. The NYY -1.5 was -112 instead of +112. {Pinnacle]

Thanks Fish. I have had little interest in The Sport of Kings the last few years. So I'll pass on the pageantry today. But...as you know I have room here for a backyard racehorse. I have been devouring my books on thoroughbred investing, training, etc.

Something in my heart of hearts

tells me that another John Henry will surface at Tampa Bay Downs one of these years. When a cheap claimer walks out of the starting gate I will know...and I'll be ready.

Meanwhile that same something keeps me from playing the Rockies today as I did yesterday.
Hampton is about a run and a half better in ERA over the last few years in day games. Even this year, as bad as he has been and with so little to go on, he is still a bit better in daylight. Plus the game is almost 20 cents more expensive. I'll pass. Doesn't mean I want to. But I will.

Just a note which may be of some interest. I had Drese and Texas last night. I'll pass today. I do think Drese is a better pitcher this year. But although he has a better home W-L record in day games, his home ERA last three years is 8.37 day vs. 6.34 at night. Away it is slight but still higher in daytime on the road. Also last night I was including a fatigue factor against BoSox which is no longer in play. FWIW to you. Don't let me sway you and good luck.

Tampa Bay +121

Only a half unit play for me. A unit here of course. I have my reasons to like it just enough to play it small.

Quick question:

aren't you more inclined to take a RL in Coors b/c of the amount of runs scored there. I live the Braves today but took the RL for value. Hopefully we both win. I believe that Coors field and Houston's are the two parks that experience the least one run games.

I agree about the fewest one run games. My play was based today on starting pitching matchups. With Nascar today which really is my break from bases but takes time and some controversy I had with a book the took a lot of the morning, I played a gut reaction here.

I've stopped the bleeding but thats about it, I see enough positive expectation to play it. Lot of factors, No time to get into it. Estes should be hit hard though he is capable of a stellar effort at ant time.

Here is another one I played just under the wire.

Minnesota -138. Notice more favs. Not necessarily a good thing but still under the -140 limit. GL guys.

Another sign that I'm not quite together right now. Yesterday I played Cleveland and Los Angeles for a half unit. Iffy plays I thought especially with Lima time in LA and higher than I would like juice with C.C.

So I didn't post them. Too much juice and I'm very hesitant to post those because a few of those lost in a row can kill you. So I'm ever cognizant of that and if I feel someone is playing my picks, I don't want them to take a bath with a bigger than normal fav. Couple of days ago, I hit a nice NYY and San Diego vs Montreal 2 teamer, the only kind of parlay I'll ever play... two big favs. Again did not post it. From now on if I make a wager, I will post it. Being too conservative and second guessing myself as a capper is easily my biggest shortcoming and although I usually still grind out a small profit, I always envy the devil my care players. I could do better with a bit more self esteem and positive thinking and well...being more of a gambler than a grinder. And grinding does grind you down. Unfortunately I'm Tom Kite and not Lefty.

On the plus side I won't ever lose your bankroll [at least quickly] and may even make it grow. On the downside you won't get rich following me. It's just a personality flaw and I apologize. The elderly I guess have a bit of wisdom but don't usually ride in yellow Vettes either.

Good luck to all of you. The best thing you can do is spend a few minutes looking at my picks then make your own decision. Guess I'm kind of down for not giving you guys two picks that were winners yesterday. GL today. Mr. Jones.

SSI,

I think this is Johnson's week in spite of the back up car. He's still got his #1 engine. I like him enough for a $20 win bet and I seldom play those. He's been stronger every week, kind of like he's been building up to it.

Of couse you can never rule out Stewart spinning a field filler into his path. Maybe a hunch if nothing else. Gotta like Jimmie today SSI, at least over Jeff who I expect to run a solid race also. Have him over Jr. in a matchup for plus money. Good Luck as always my friend.
