It's been said already but eating a ton of fruits will make you fat. It's a common misconception that they are healthy no matter how many you eat.

There is some good advice in this thread already though so I won't go too far into detail but 5-6 small meals a day (think a banana and a granola bar) is much better than 1-3 big meals a day. Space that shit out and you will quickly get used to it. Your body will be able to use the calories instead of eating too much and letting it turn into fat and other bad crap. It might seem weird for the first few days but is easy to get used to.

If you cook anything in a skillet, use Olive Oil.

I eat six meals a day.

I've been working out over 20 years and once you get back in shape you'll feel better, look better, and you won't be as tired.

The worst thing someone can do is eating a heavy meal at dinner. I eat my largest meal of the day in the morning right after I workout. Your muscles need fuel and those muscles is what help burn fat.

When doing cardio, make it intense and do it for 20min. But it has to be intense. Slow jog for 5min, run as fast you can for 1min. Continue this approach for 20min. you'll melt off pounds.

Jogging for long periods is only going to break down muscles and it's a waste of time.

Any examples of people who have gotten fat from fruit?

Tons of sugar in fruits. It's not as bad as the sugar put in things like soda and candy but eating too much fruit can definitely help pack on the pounds. Plus it makes you feel like shit. I know this after coming up with the great idea to buy like 10 fruits and make a giant plate for dinner with my girlfriend. Fuck it hurt for 24 hours.

Wutang , whatever you do, don't skip breakfast, and don't eat after 7-7:30 at night. A big breakfast you can burn off all day. Eating at night are empty calories.

If you happen to drink Soda of any kind (Diet included), you need to quit.

Soda is gross in my opinion. I don't see why people drink it to begin with. Water is my favorite but Gatorade is about as sugary as I can drink.

That should tell you exactly why there are virtually no examples of people who have gotten fat from fruit

Just because you say something has tons of sugar and will make you fat doesn't make it true

To get 500 kcal from sugar from watermelon you would need to eat over 4.6 pounds. To get 500 kcal of sugar from apples you would need to eat over 2.6 pounds. Again, any examples of people who are eating that everyday and are fat?

Eating a few fruits a day is not bad but going on an all fruit diet should, theoretically, put way too much sugar in you than your body can handle which will eventually turn into fat if not worked off.

I'm not talking about just eating an apple a day or anything. Fruit sugars are way lower than things like soda and candy but you can definitely gain weight if you get too much of it. I don't see how you wouldn't...

You got it.
That stuff will slowly eat your insides. Soda should have warning labels.

can't imagine any way of getting fat from fruit unless your eating absurd amounts along with processed carbs and fat. way too much hate on a unprocessed food source that is chalked full of vitamins minerals and phytonutrients. if your're still sweatin the sugar in fruit just eat a reasonable amount with a lean protein and or healthy fat and that will bring the glycemic rush down.

I have no problem with fruit other than when people decide it's all they need and eat nothing else on a "diet".

You need to eat plenty of lean protein & vegetables.
I stick to a 40/40/20 diet.

A diet like that isn't sustainable, your taste buds must hate you.

Stop doing that. Sugar in any form, including fructose, is your enemy.

It will easily happen by August if you do the following:

1. Stop only running, you're putting your body into a catabolic state.

2. Lift weights first and then do 20-30 minutes of HIIT cardio max.

3. Clean up your diet. Eat a mixture of the following

- Turkey
- Chicken
- Tuna
- Lean beef
- Salmon
- Oats
- Beans
- Hummus
- Quinoa
- Broccoli, green beans, and carrots
- Olive oil
- Almonds and/or mixed raw nuts
- Low fat cheese
- Light mayo
- Blueberries, cranberries, and raspberries
- Greek yogurt
- Honey
- Green tea

Don't eat processed carbs.. crackers, cookies, dry pasta, etc.. anything that comes in a box. Also, avoid enriched flour and even wheat if you can.

And don't be afraid of fat. Fat doesn't make you fat, excess calories do.

Shoot for either a 50/30/20 or 40/40/20 % ratio (Fat/Protein/Carbs).

This is the only post you need to read in this thread. After you read this just close the thread and follow his advice.

The key to understand and he didn't touch on this is weight loss is also very mental. You must fully committ and be 100% sold on your diet and excercise. Can you cheat once in awhile? Yes you can as long as you jump right back on the horse and get back at it. Don't let this consume your life but maintain your discipline and be focused on your goals.

I honestly didn't know about the running thing. I been trying to get in shape but havent gave it my all.

I have avoided fast food, and started playing tennis...

No more just jogging to jog. Will try the HIIT...

have you lost any inches??? Sometimes the scale wont show it so much, especially if you are working out alot, but your clothes may be getting looser...remember, you have to create a caloric deficit, calories in less calories burnt...appx 3500 cals equal a pound....Im working out too and not losing much on the scale but the inches are peeling off of me..keep us updated..take care

A good target to start is about 30 minutes of cardiovascular activity meaning your heart is elevated the entire time. Now, that doesn't mean you have to run for 30 minutes. You can walk quickly or on an incline or ride a stationary bike or the elliptical trainer or whatever but you need to elevate your heart rate.

A great tool for measuring your activity and your progress in general is the Polar Watch. For example , the Polar FT 80.
