**UPDATE**
I figured I would update this thread because of the many people who contributed and helped me out a great deal. Also for the many that are trying to get their health back.
On june 3rd I wrote that I had only lost 2 pounds and had worked out for a month. My first goal was to lose 10 lbs by july 1st and 20 by the end of September. I didnt want to do any fancy diets or take any crazy pills to acomplish my goals. I think the one post that stands out the most in this thread is hippieki11er's post on page 1. I have followed his advice. My diet consists of mostly chicken, Oatmeal, Beans, Broccolli, Spinach, Fruits, lean beef, hummus, yogurt. Also, at the time of the last post my workouts were stricktly trying to build my stamina by running every day for long distances. I have now began using the HIIT training along with lifting light weights. I finally joined a gym on june 14th. This is when the diet really began to take off. Every day it seems to get easier and easier to adjust to this new life style. Its so true what they say about getting started being the hardest part. I have lost 6.5 lbs since the post and am at roughly 192.5 lbs. I might not get to the 191 I wanted to weight by july 1st but I am extremely confident that I will continue to lose weight and eventually get to my goals. I really should have joined the gym a long time ago as my workouts get more intense each day. Thanks again. Hopefully this thread helps others as well.

It's real simple to lose weight. First cut out the sugar drinks. Just drink WATER. Then cut out white bread. Only eat whole grain if you have to eat it at all. Next don't use any canned shit. Steam veggies daily. Eat alot of chicken. For breakfast eat a whole grain cereal with fresh fruit. 2% milk at worst. Excerise daily and do cardio(try to burn at least 400 calories on cardio) For snacks eat fruit or yogurt. You can drink ENSURE for a boost during day if your hungry. Also danon fit strawberry banana smootie drinks are fine. Cut out alcohol. You will lose 20 lbs easy and healthy.

Every day I learn new things about what to eat and what not to eat. I have to admit I do eat some canned veggies along with steamed.
Canned green beans (no salt added) have 20 caloris per serving, low sodium and only 1% carbs. ingredients are grean beens and water. Canned sweet peas (no salt added)- 60 calories per/serv, low sodium, low fat, low carbs. ingredients- peas and water.

How can these canned foods be bad for you?

Did you not know these were nutritious foods before? Education is the easy part, but it is still necessary

Nice work sticking with it for another month. Now watch as more months pass and you find yourself even stronger and faster. Eating right and exercising can be such an enjoyable hobby, always have some trouble understanding why more people don't take it up

One main problem is our youth. Many children & teens eat like crap, but are active and don't gain body fat.

As we reach adults and begin to take on other responsibilities, we still eat like crap and are less active. Well now your eating habits begin to show. You start packing on a gut, your knees start to hurt, etc.

I've know several people that skip breakfast and eat a heavy dinner. Well these individuals are now having health issues.

As adults we need to teach our children to eat right at a young age so that they don't suffer as adults.

Samhain,
what you describe is adults making their own choices. You start growing a belly or have achy joints you are free to do something about it. The tools are easily available to anyone who wants to do something about it no matter if the ate nothing but junk food as teenagers

You are correct. BUT many adults are either lazy or they lack the discipline to do so.
