Serie A – 2 September, 2007
Palermo at LIVORNO
As mentioned prior, believe Palermo will struggle in the first half of the season. Livorno is a bad team (although the recent acquisitions might help down the stretch in avoiding the relegation chamber, with one Erjon Bogdani providing much needed help at the midfield slot). They will Miss Marco Ameia tomorrow, whose name has been thoroughly mentioned in market moves. However, Livorno’s fan base is one of the best in the league, and has always been a decent catalyst for the home side, who is much more comfortable (and productive) on home turf. Worth the shot IMO, with the decent value on the PK line.
LIVORNO pk +126 (3 units)
LIVORNO over 2 and 2.5 –107 (3 units)
Palermo 4 LIVORNO 2
Siena at ROMA
It would pain me if Roma ends up winning this match 1-0 or 2-1. In accordance with that philosophy, I’ll bypass the straight –1.5 line, for –1.5 and –2 +102. If game unfolds in accordance, don’t remotely see Siena scoring (unless – of course – they convert if given a penalty kick). Roma stronger this year, especially at midfield, and Siena somewhat weaker (especially on defense). Could it be any different that last year’s season opener, which saw Roma beat Siena on the road 3-1. I know it’s Serie A, where anything can happen, but do not believe it’s going to happen today at L’Olimpico.
ROMA –1.5 and –2 +102 (3 units)
Never been a fan of the fat –1.5 line. However, first half line might just sneak under the radar.
FIRST HALF: ROMA –0.5 and –1 –106 (3.5 units)
ROMA 3 Siena 0
Reggina at TORINO
I am hoping this year’s version of Torino turns out to be last year’s version of Empoli, especially when playing at home. Both of these organizations respectably despise one another, so yellow and red cards are always in the picture. Similar styles between these two, with efficient speed at midfield and front three; primary difference is on defense, where Reggina has not made any significant improvements. Torino will be aggressive in newly devised 4-3-3. Don’t need Rosina to score today, as supporting cast should has clear size advantage.
It’s the TORO for me.
TORINO –0.5 –124 (3.5 units)
TORINO 2 Reggina 2
(90th minute goal by Reggina. If Toro held, would have had a very good week)
Parma at ATALANTA
A chess match of newly devised 4-4-2 defensive formations (especially with Atalanta). Home side is extremely tough at home, and will probably not settle for a draw before travelling to Fiorentina next week.
ATALANTA pk and –0.5 –122 (4 units)
ATALANTA 2 Parma 0
As I mentioned in the B, season has just started; so take it easy. Nothing truly stands out. Minor recommendations with Torino –0.5, and Atalanta pk and –0.5. I know that Juventus / Cagliari looks like a solid under, and Catania / Genoa, a strong candidate for the over, but I’ll save these units for the Lazio / Sampdoria match.
4W-2L-1T (+4.47 units)
Lazio at SAMPDORIA - This should be an entertaining match. With Samp at home there are no inbetweens, it could easily be 0-0 or 3-3.
I am hoping for the ladder.
Playing:
Lazio at pk +130 (2 units)
OVER 2 and 2.5 -121 (2 units)
good luck,
MA
