Charlie Hustle, was a treat watching him play what a competitor.
And of course loved action, you gotta keep him out just for stupidity if any thing els.
He knew he was doing wrong, why bet games when you can hustle up a poker game 24/7 just with your team mates alone.
Ponies in every MLB city and so forth.
No he shouldn't be allowed in,but should be able to get a job but that to is part of the ban.
First let me say, Pete was my favorite player when I was growing up as a kid. I loved his hustle, tried to emulate him when I played.
With that being said, he should have never gambled the way he did. He could of done drugs, beat his wife but the worst of the worst is to gamble on his own game.
I've met Pete a few times in person and he was a prick. Have other people saying the same thing.....i wonder if that hurts him as well.
its pretty simple he broke one of baseballs strict rules. If they dont enorce the rule, then there is no sense in having rules at all then. Doesnt matter what he did on the field, he broke the rule. On top of that he had many chances to confess about his gambling but he wouldnt do it.
The question to me has always been is this the baseball HOF or the good guy HOF, if its purely baseball then no question he should be in, of course we know he fucked up, but baseball alone the fact he is not in is a joke, and don't even get me started about some of the scumbags that are in the HOF, it is not a good guy HOF
Nailed it.
Just because you guys have met some of these stars and they're massive pricks doesn't mean shit when you're talking about whether they should be in the HOF or not. If their numbers are good enough then they should be in, and Pete Rose has more than good enough numbers.
Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, and Pete Rose all deserve to be in the HOF.
And to whoever said it would have been better if he was doing drugs or beating his wife..wtf?! Doing drugs is not a huge deal so I'll agree with that, but beating his wife? That's fucking stupid. So you'd rather have a HOF full of wife beaters rather than gamblers? I think neither should stop someone from getting in because it has nothing to do with how good of a baseball player they are, but saying it's better that he would have beaten his wife is just ridiculous to me.
