Abbott and Texas wanted to show the nation that the Northeast were a bunch of nany state scared pink hat statists, so show us.

I'm surprised they didn't have more fight in them, 2500 deaths? That's pretty weak off 30m people.

I was surprised by that also...thought they would be defiant for much much longer.

Covid is real. Pretty sure most agree. The things in question are:

1. How serious is it in general
2. How serious is it for those who are not old and compromised
3. What do we do about it

If you ask many different people these questions, you will get a variety of answers. And when they answer, most people cannot see things from the other side. If you are a shutdown person, you think that open the economy people are wrong and you will point to statistics to prove that they are wrong. Same on the other side. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, as it usually does.

I get what your saying. My example is, my dad has prostate cancer. Doctor says there is no reason he shouldnt't get another 10-15 years but also stated that if he got covid at the very lest he would expect him to be hospitalized. So if he got covid died in a few weeks, the nah sayers would say, well he had cancer anyways, so whats the difference between years and a few weeks. As if its splitting hairs. Or that covid didn't "actually" kill him.

So did I, but can’t fake it after you were caught on the hot mic saying, “these decisions will lead to more cases and deaths.” And then not do anything.

my father in law had major throat surgery and uses that talking device now thanks to being a heavy smoker at one time. so if he gets it hes in big trouble. and he lives in florida. hes taking all the precautions and doing just fine.

I think both of these people - if they take the proper precautions - will make it through. if not? i'm not going to say covid killed them. sorry not trying to be cold about it. if you drink down some cyanide that kills you. there is a difference. am i saddened by even a single death? yes. but i've come to grips with my own death which allows me to look at the situation without emotion.

good people want shit back. evil people are using this to win a political election. some are here on this board. we have to keep up the good fight so they are not allowed to shut down the whole country.

Got too hot in the kitchen and they couldn't handle it I guess.

If they're gonna be that scared then what chance do blue states have?

texas doesn't collect a state tax so they can't be scared for very long. its a gigantic state with multiple gigantic cities. of course numbers are going to fluctuate. but the way they handled it... encouraging 100,000+ riot crowds and then clamping down on a bar that holds 20 people... just ludicrous.

I am in a blue state and my heart sinks when I see a red state back track.
