Oklahoma State wide receiver Paul Cole-Knee

He was competing against Dez Bryant for the starting spot. Will have an MRI on Monday to determin the extent of the damage.

Phil Steele had Williams penciled in as a backup...But I don't think it makes a difference..He'll be missed since he was the only player with any significant playing time at the position..According to the roster the other players vying for the DT are a redshirt freshman and a converted LB...Tough loss. Somebody will probably have to be moved over from another line position, if it hasn't already been done.

The guy covering the position is Josh Brent (#1 DT recruit out of the midwest) who played as a true freshman and was considered the "3rd starter" for DT this year. Either way it hurts our depth especially in the 2nd half against no huddle teams. Luckily on D-line we went from 13 guys in '07 to 18 guys in '08 so it's one of the deepest position on the team.

Also, starting receiver Jeff Cumberland is out about 6 weeks with a stress fracture in his foot. This is supposed to be a break out year for him. He is 6-5 240 and has won a number of slam dunk competitions so needless to say he was going to be our #1 target in the redzone and for moving the chains. Should be back during Big Ten play.

To comment on the Navy situation: I think Bryant might be a better runner, but obviously the experience at QB is a factor, as well as wanting to incl. him in the offense at slot.

Can anyone comment on how badly those inj. at Middle Tennessee State will impact them early?

MTSU Mark Fisher was the only one who had ever played. Had 10st in 2007. Others hadn't played. Padrick was slated to start. Jamal Lewis slated to start at LG in some preseason mags also out for 2008.

Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech suspended receiver Zach Luckett indefinitely Monday after being arrested for the second time Sunday for drunken driving.
Coach Frank Beamer had no further comment beyond announcing the suspension of the 6-foot-3, 212-pound redshirt sophomore.
Luckett, 20, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the influence and operating with a revoked license. It is his second time he has been charged with drunken driving.

they may have to put him in.....they lost there top4 WR to graduation and top 2 this season to injuries....looks like they will have converted QB's Holt and Whitaker playing some now....
