LSU starting DT Quinten Thomas lost for year w/ torn biceps. They are very, very thin at DT.

LSU defensive tackle Quentin Thomas is expected to miss the 2014 season with a torn biceps, a source confirmed to The Advocate on Friday.

Thomas, a redshirt junior from Breaux Bridge, is listed as a starter and was expected to see substantial playing time for the first time in his career this year. He suffered the injury during Wednesday’s practice and will undergo at least six months of rehabilitation, the source said.

A team spokesman declined comment.

Thomas was not seen at Thursday’s practice and was not present during Friday’s open portion of drills.

A backup to Ego Ferguson in 2013, Thomas had nine tackles in 11 games played. He started in the Outback Bowl when Ferguson did not make the trip to Tampa, Florida.

Redshirt freshman Greg Gilmore is listed as Thomas’ backup on LSU’s preseason depth chart. Frank Herron and Maquedius Bain are also expected to vie for his starting gig.

Nebraska takes another hit with sophomore safety LeRoy Alexander now being suspended for the 2014 season. A news release from Nebraska media relations didn't specify the reason for the suspension, and said Pelini wouldn't comment further on the matter. He seemed to be a lead candidate to start at safety after a good showing in the spring. Now it looks like sophomore Nate Gerry will slide into the other safety spot opposite Corey Cooper. Depth will be an even bigger issue with any more injuries/suspensions.

There is little doubt he was the starting safety. He came on late and had a good second half in 2013. This is a bigger loss than Jackson. Alexander had some solid playing time. Gerry played LB in 2013. The starter there will have zero experience.

The hits keep coming for Nebraska. Last year it was catastrophic injuries to the O-line. This year it is the defense. Nickel Charles Jackson (knee), Saftey Leroy Alexander (conduct?) and now LB Michael Rose-Ivey with a likley serious knee injury. http://huskercorner.com/2014/08/08/huskers-lb-michael-rose-ivey-tears-acl-possibly-mcl/

He was in a heated battle with Josh Banderas at MLB and even if he didn't win the start was going to see a lot of playing time. I think they wanted Rose to win the job because Banderas can play all positions and has shown some quality in defending the pass. Starting to reach horror story levels (4 days of practice!) and if fans weren't questioning the S&C coach last year, they certainly are now.

Duke just lost their All-ACC and potentially All-American LB Kelby Brown for the season

he was 3rd in ACC with 114 tackles last year in including 11 for loss and was #20 on ESPN's top 25 players in the ACC

Hard to replace a difference maker and not much time to make an adjustment either.

Might be time for people to seriously look into Stanford's training program. At some point, the massive weight has to be counterproductive.

Four Notre Dame starters were dismissed from the school for academic fraud after an internal investigation this summer was completed, Fox Sports reported Friday.
Wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive back KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore were investigated by Notre Dame.
A year ago, starting quarterback Everett Golson was suspended for the 2013 season after he was caught cheating on an exam. However, he was allowed to return to Notre Dame for the winter semester and is back as the starter.

For the second week in a row, Duke has lost a starter due to injury.

Monday it was tight end Braxton Deaver, Duke’s second-most productive receiver last season. Deaver, a redshirt senior, tore his right ACL in practice and will not play this year.

Deaver, a graduate of Charlotte’s Providence High, was a third team All-ACC choice in 2013 after hauling in 46 receptions for 600 yards and four touchdowns, all totals that ranked second among league tight ends (behind North Carolina’s Eric Ebron in yards and catches and Florida State’s Nick O’Leary in touchdowns). Deaver had multiple receptions in every game last season, including six for a career-high 116 yards in Duke’s 52-48 loss in the Peach Bowl.

so how bad is Braxton Miller hurt?

Hearing it's possible he'll redshirt. Sounded his he threw a pass and just crumbled with no contact.

Also Mississippi State and South Carolina lost projected starting O-line guys today. Robinson and Matulis. Both out for year.

And who's fault is that? Not our fault other big 10 teams are not ranked when we play them. Va tech was always a top 15 team like cal last year when we scheduled them years ago

gotta love a buckeye boys revisionist history....yeah, keep believing the buckeyes are really trying to schedule decent ooc opponents...

fact - CAL/OSU was signed in 2002
from http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2013/09/13/gameday/gd-hunter-column.html

It is too early to say whether scheduling a home-and-home series with Cal was a mistake, and the games are scheduled so far in advance that it’s probably not even fair to think that way. When this matchup was set up in 2002, it looked … well, it looked a lot like it does now.

now why would your fanzine say that? easy...

how about Cal right before OSU stepped in to sign them up?

2001 = 1-10 SU, 0-8 conf
2000 = 3-8 SU, 2-6 conf
1999 = 4-7 SU, 3-5 conf

in fact before OSU signed them up they hadn't had a winning season in 9 years and a winning conference record in 10 years. yep, they basically found one of the worst D1 "big 5" programs and pawned them off on buckeye fans as their top upcoming OOC opponent....and you swallowed that hook, line, and sinker

so as you were asking, who's fault is that?
