Far Q - again, there are supposed to be rules in this forum, designed to prevent the example I mentioned. But it's not his opinion that matters - of course it doesn't - it's the fact that the content of his opinion, when it crosses the line, does not cause BTJ any repercussion. It's not the banality of what he posts, it's only when he crosses that line - like attacking someone's kid.

Again, if that's how this forum will be run, I'm going to jump right in and follow BTJ's example. And why not?

Angelle - I cut and pasted his original comments to clevfan from another post, then the General deleted them from my post. I can give you my word he posted 'THAT FAG ZACHERY' - that's what set me off, not BTJ's run-of-the-mill crap, and I am not taking clevefan's back, I am taking anyone's back who has a comment like that thrown at them.

Frank:

Whoever you think I am you are well off. I have only ever posted here under this name.

Jazz:

Fair point, I just find it easier to ignore antagonisers then fuel them into more responses.

I believe you... But with only 36 posts its not hard to check them out. You seem to respond/hang-out with BTJ, SG and Vega a lots.

Nice piece of profling!

Makes me sound kind of queer hanging out with that bunch though (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Someone should move this topic to the RR or Jazz is going to cry about it for the next 3 hours!

I am not saying I approve of all his material. I just think there are better ways to handle it (Like ignoring) then flaming him back.

Blue, I used to believe that as fact...but have heard from enough people "in the know" to now be somewhat sure he isn't.

Beantown can get on my nerves. His all caps posts are nearly impossible to read but his lately story about his lawnmower being stolen was just too funny.

I've cut him alot of slack for the amount of laughing time I got from it.

If someone was hoping to get BTJ tossed, this probably isn't the best time to try to do it. He can whine to no end, but that lawnmower story was by far his best ever.

I was driving home for work after reading it & was still catching myself busting out laughing.

Let him stay & delete anything he posts that mentions a certain book or 660 dollars. Enough is enough-and any more is not going to change anything.

Jazz, I totally agree with you, but 1 fact will remain after all the BS..

There is a double standard here.

Thanks, #1cheater# - I am regretfully going to have to agree with you. For some others who replied here, I'm sure BTJ has posted funny stuff here, but that's not the point, is it?

The point is this:

You should not be allowed to get away with posting low-life garbage, like calling a woman's child a FAG.

This shouldn't be winked at, tolerated, airily dismissed without any repercussion to the poster - if you do this, and you allow this, you completely demean the forum. And I'm serious about this. Just as if I post something at the same level, I shouldn't be allowed to do it, nor you - nor anyone.

What do I care? Because if this goes unaddressed, in my eyes it undermines the forum. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm retired, I've got better things to do than post this, blah blah blah - but since you're replying to my posts, I assume you must consider it worth your time to do so, which means you somehow care about this forum in some way as well - whether the same as I or not doesn't matter.

If the next time you find yourself in a mild disagreement with someone, and being a family man (or woman), you find your children or your loved one being called names, and you find you don't find it funny, and nothing is done about it, don't be at all surprised, and remember, you'll have no reason whatsoever to be upset.

Anyhow, goodnight, and I hope someone higher up sees fit to address this directly and not let it go slinking off into a corner like a dying weasel.

TTinCO,

I agree.

Right now, the lawnmower post has to be the favorite for post of the year on all forums. They can't ban the poster that is going to bring the RX International honors at the end of the year.

Jazz - not sure if I qualify as a "higher up" but don't mind responding. For the record I tend to agree with you. When people make it clear they don't want to be here (verbally or by their actions) I usually support banning them. Guys like Beaner are tough though. If we deleted him tomorrow 45% would be happy and snear it's about time, 45% would be outraged for banning their favorite poster, and 10% wouldn't care either way. That's just the way it is. Makes it worse when you get people who "feel strongly" on the subject. They want to be entertained and don't ever want anyone banned, it's a free country don't read it if you don't like it crowd. Then we get the sensitive Sally's, "he said damn in another thread and I DEMAND he be banned for life". Most fall somewhere in between which is usually worse. They like the guy and think he is hilarious until one day he posts mean to them and then they suddenly join the delete this guy crowd. They go back and forth day to day whether they would ban or not depending on how the person in question posts to them or how they are feeling that day. When you do make the call you get hit by a few who tell you they love the board but just can't support this sort of censorship, good-bye. If you let him stay than some post of how the board will do anything for hits, they can't be a part of this. LOL. This is part of what makes this job "fun".

Within this debate of a poster as a whole is an entirely new subset of smaller things to patrol. Race, name-calling, affairs gone bad, agenda against books and/or players etc.... Each with a new set of issues and folks on both sides. Say someone really says something out of bounds, say with a racial context to it. Then you get hit with he's a respected poster and just having a bad day crowd, others feel no matter who he is that remark should never be tolerated. Again usually half on each side. Some will read the exact same remark and not blink an eye, what's the fuss about they will say. Everyone knows what they want and what they think is "right" but that feeling of right is exclusive to 15,000 other posters as well. Each has their own guideline of exatly what they would allow and are confused others can't agree with them. I was offended last year when someone joked about a posters kid who was having health problems, just a baby. Was told since it is in the Rubber Room that is allowed. Another time someone joked about Super Scout (an old poster who passed away), again I was outraged but nothing happened and I was approached by some who agreed and others who thought I was "taking things too seriously". I'm just telling you this as sort of feedback, we sign on for this and though it is tough we like the challenge. And by the way it is not only Beaner, every controversial poster here has people who feel strongly on both sides.

Anyway I agree with you. Beaner's funny at times and I have got some great laughs but those times seem to be further and further apart of late. Mostly it is crying about a shot he took at a book that lost or insulting someone here so he can stand out and people will notice him. Most know he's a dumbass so they don't pay him much attention but it is getting old and boring. As others said earlier he is being dealt with right now. If we owned the board we'd all do it differently and we all sort of understand that going in. Thanks for the feedback though, just my 02 cents on all this.
