I'll just go ahead and say it...I don't think Blake Griffin is as good as people think he is

It's all good. Guys comment when in the moment and don't look at the big picture.

I was wrong on the Wentz deal and correct on this deal and a team that takes the Wyoming QB will regret it big time.

I think I agree with you on Allan .
I think whoever takes him will be setback at least 8 years

You said ITT he wasn't a top 10 PF in the NBA in his prime. I mean, every thread on the RX and that's 1 you wanna bump?

The Clippers were a perennial 50-55 win team with him as their 2nd best player for 6 years and ran incredibly badly with injuries in the playoffs. To just make some bland comment like he was "garbage" isn't real analysis. I'd say he was an all star caliber player in his prime before a few variables caught up with him, if you disagree w/ that then it is fine.

But a thread to throw down a slam dunk? C'mon bro.

You're moving the goal post.

Re read this thread. Guys were calling him a superstar and a top 10 player.

But now you're trying to downplay that by saying he was a "pretty good" player. That wasn't the general sentiment in 2014. It was that he was a superstar player and based on that I called him overrated.

You also said he was well worth the 17 mil salary. I said he was not. I was proven to be right.

I’m not going to reread this thread but I do remember the not a top 15 PF comment .

And that is a ridiculous comment even to this day.

This is certainly not “ bump this thread to show how smart I was” material .

I'm not moving the goal post at all. I said he was a good player/all star caliber player in his prime, you bumped the thread asking if I still feel that way. Yes, I still feel from '13-'16ish he was an all star caliber player. Re: the 17mill, if I think he was an all star caliber player then yeah I think he was worth 17mill in his prime. If you don't, then you don't think he was worth that. All that really comes down to.

You think because he regressed and had tons of injuries that this proves you right or something?

And re-reading the thread, I see 1 person calling him a "8-12 range" caliber player and this was at his apex. It's a lot closer to correct than saying he is in the same tier as Luis Scola and David Lee.

He might even be a boarderline hall of famer .

This is not the kind of thing you bump to show how smart you are.

Is/was he Karl Malone?

No

But certainly not a bust in the least

"Superstar" is a subjective term, you know what isn't a subjective term?

"Blake Griffin isn't a top 10 power forward"

That was your opinion, not that he was pretty good but wasn't Tim Duncan. Let's not get it twisted.

Who knows? They let anyone in these days. The thing is kindof a joke and "Is so and so a HOFer?" is a pretty useless way to debate their merits as a player. Especially since it is more about longevity/resume/circumstance than actual ability when you get into the borderline guys.

I’m certainly no nba expert so I googled Blake griffin hall of fame just to see if what I said was insane .

First result I get from google is https://www.foxsports.com/nba/gallery/nba-basketball-hall-of-fame-tracy-mcgrady-active-players-locks-stephen-curry-russell-westbrook-lebron-james-040117?amp=true

written in 2017.

so I guess I’m not off base on my statement

Yea I know the hof is not a be all end all type of deal but it is funny that someone would bump a 4 year old thread telling everyone see I told you he sucks when it’s about someone that might make the hof one day.

What is funny to me is when people basically say the guy is much, much worse than what the consensus opinion is (in Blake's case, that he isn't a top 10 PF or as good as Lee/Scola) then his career goes downhill and they say "Oh see I told you he wasn't a superstar"

Doesn't get more moving the goal post than that.

Nah, it was just another thread where you took both sides. By 2014, your conviction that Blake Griffin was overrated was pretty much gone.

Not to mention you said you would take Luis Scola over him, which is obviously an awful opinion.

I don't think I said this unless I'm not seeing it.

Dude, most NBA players go 100% each night, take cheap shots and have passion for the game or they wouldn't be in the NBA.

Kevin Love and Lamarcus Aldridge are so much better than Blake Griffin yet get half the publicity he does. Luis Scola and David Lee have numbers that are comparable to Blake Griffin and are much more polished basketball players yet they get no notice. He's not a good NBA player right now.

Don't get me wrong, he's fun to watch for sure but I might take Luis Scola over Griffin. Maybe even David Lee.

Here is where you say it. "Might", but still I think most would agree that's a bit strong.

Either way, my rebuttal wasn't really for you as much as it was for Cruise. Who said he wasn't a top 10 PF in 2014, then bumped the thread because other people said he was a "superstar" and somehow he is now right now (when no one really said he was a superstar) Which is goal post moving if there ever was such a thing and not at all bump worthy.

Cruise says he was "laughed out of the thread" for this, when infact he was laughed out of the thread for saying someone like Paul Millsap was better than Blake Griffin.

PF - I don't have a clue why I was talking about Luis Scola Jesus Christ LOL.

I think my overall point was Griffin is flashy and has some dunks and athleticism but that's his game. He isn't a star that will ever carry a team to a title. I haven't ever considered him a superstar. If I'm on an opposing team, he doesn't scare me with the ball in his hands.
