How about current and former navy seals? Ideal reference?

Link's please. Seal Team 6 will never leave one of their members behind, no matter what. I am skeptical about any member of ST6 risking lives for a traitor. This guy joined forces with the enemy and everyone knew it, they would have gladly left him behind. Lives were lost looking for this loser. There is no patience when cowards and traitors join forces with the enemy. ST6 and other Special Forces serve the POTUS and will do what he asks, no questions allowed.

Again, it doesn't seem that most were aware he was a traitor while this exchange happened. Speculation only. And the soldiers creed is not " no man left behind but not if he's a piece of shit". All the seal teams quotes are anonymous but we've seen plenty of military personnel on TV and in print repeat the same thing. That you get an American soldier back if you can. Some agree and some don't that this case falls into that.

They said if the investigation found him to be a traitor he would be dealt with accordingly and that's exactly what's happening.

"well known"

"I can quote people"

"because Obama said so"

At least now we know why the poker fraud is bumping ancient BFL and Joe Contrarian threads. lmfao!

This is a difficult situation across the board. Definitely not a good situation regardless how you look at it. But the military should never make decisions based on he said/she said accusations. If this is a trade they would make for a POW not being accused or suspected of desertion, then it was the right move to make. Shouldn't be any questions about that and apparently there wasn't.

If this deal was on the table and Obama didn't take it and they killed him.....the same nitwits would be blaming Obama for his death. How many cut and paste articles from breitbart would we be seeing about it? Ten or twenty? These dumbfucks don't make a case on what is right or wrong....just find a way to blame Obama....that is their only end game.

I mean that's 100% truth. My favorite analogy to use because it's simple has always been GITMO. Republicans were 100% against closing GITMO. Then when Obama didn't close it, they started accusing him of being a liar!! There's just literally nothing Obama could do to get these jokers to not blame him. It's laughable.

im not sure it was clear he was a deserter until they had all the facts....which happened when he was returned and they actually spoke with.....he was then charged.

They knew it right away. He had written several things indicating as such.

He was a POW but also a deserter hence the reason he's being charged now. There was no question he was a deserter. AK, the DOD did not agree with this trade. The decision was made by POTUS only.

But the entire point of the thread is what about the other American hostages? Why weren't their lives as important as Bergdahl's?

I'm not arguing he wasn't a deserter, just saying the military can't put him on trial while he's a pow. And it was not just the Potus at all. The Pentagon was 100% on board as it is their policy and they handled it the way they would any other pow.

Didn't you say in the Baltimore tragedy thread that we should never make a determination until all the FACTS are in? Same thing here. We bring our soldier back,as we leave no man behind, and then get all the FACTS. That's what's properly being done.

Vit, believe what you want.

From Wiki: A former senior military officer briefed on the investigation into Bergdahl's disappearance said that on the night he went missing, Bergdahl left a note in his tent that said he was leaving to start a new life.[SUP][19][/SUP] It was reported that the letter said that Bergdahl wanted to renounce his citizenship.

Aside from the fact that the current administration knew that Bergdahl was a traitor they rolled the return as if it were some major coup. They bring the parents in and the father speaks to his son in Arabic as if his son had forgotten English during his life as a traitor. Like with many other photo op's this administration attempts, it comes back to bite them in the ass. Seemed like a good time for Obama to start emptying Gitmo so he trades 4 of the worst of the worst terrorists for 1 traitor and tries to pawn it off as a major win.

During this same time US war veteran Andrew Tahmooressi is rotting away in a Mexican prison on bullshit charges and the administration did nothing. A war veteran with PTSD issues in a Mexican prison for 214 days and Obama does nothing. Nothing to gain politically so let the war vet waste away.

From the JV comments to Yemen being a model of success, the mistakes keep coming and yet the arrogance and failure to admit mistakes make this president the most inept I have seen in my lifetime. He continues to insult the intelligence of the electorate, many blindly accepting his excuses and deflections.

Last email from Bergdahl to his parents before he walked off post:

mom, dad

The future is too good to waste on lies. And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be american. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting. [...] [Three good sergeants had been forced to move to another company] [...] and one of the biggest shit bags is being put in charge of the team. [...] [My battalion commander was] a conceited old fool. [...] In the US army you are cut down for being honest... but if you are a conceited brown nosing shit bag you will be allowed to do what ever you want, and you will be handed your higher rank... The system is wrong. I am ashamed to be an american. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools. ... The US army is the biggest joke the world has to laugh at. It is the army of liars, backstabbers, fools, and bullies. The few good SGTs are getting out as soon as they can, [...] I am sorry for everything here. These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid, that they have no idea how to live... We don't even care when we hear each other talk about running their children down in the dirt streets with our armored trucks... We make fun of them in front of their faces, and laugh at them for not understanding we are insulting them [...] I am sorry for everything. The horror that is america is disgusting. There are a few more boxes coming to you guys. Feel free to open them, and use them.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP]:4[/SUP]

Last email from his dad in response to his email:

OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE!

Dear Bowe, In matters of life and death, and especially at war, it is never safe to ignore ones' conscience. Ethics demands obedience to our conscience. It is best to also have a systematic oral defense of what our conscience demands. Stand with like minded men when possible. dad.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP]:4[/SUP]

I do understand your point but Tahmooressi wasn't as innocent as he proclaimed. Guy had guns all over in the bed of his truck. If you've ever been to Mexico, you don't just take a wrong turn and end up in Mexico. Not how it works.

And...there is no evidence whatsoever from his battle buddies or superiors to indicate anything physically/mentally was wrong with Bergdahl. He just walked off post.
