Since I actually did it, it does not surprise me at all someone could go from 300 to 200 in two months if they were dedicated to it every day. As it really was not very difficult. And this is a dude who had been fat for over a decade and was not even very athletic.

Shaq just got deputized from the police department in my town so they can make a show about Shaq arresting people but it will be 100% staged and setup .

That is the only reality TV show I watch. It isn't really staged, just edited to tell a story but the actual competition, contestants are real.
Obviously something like a housewives, vh1 show with psuedo celebrities are fake and completely contrived. Something like Survivor, Fear Factor that is competition based with real people can be legitimate though. If you are on Survivor not like they are letting you eat a 24 inch steak and cheese when there isn't filming.

I watched celeb apprentice for the first time this year....only because a particpant is somebody I have known for some time....I actually liked it. Geraldo Rivera cracks me up. According to what I was told, that isn't fixed but they do crazy editing to make things appear a certain way. Often not an accurate reflection
Obviously shows like that with celebs and psuedo celebs are highly contrived. They know people want to see fights, drama, etc

The Challenge is great athletes and even greater personalities coming together to live in a house for 6 weeks. Comparing it to something like a show in which Shaq pretends to be a cop is a disservice to it.
Some shows that they call reality I don't consider to be reality shows.
For whatever reason a lot of your competition shows like American Idol and The Voice are called reality shows. I don't consider those to be reality shows.
