Seattle was totally caught off guard by the clock continuing to run and it showed.

Absolutley and I've seen Bill let the clock run when a field goal kicker was expecting a whistle and missed it in regular season.

Let them make the quick decision. Once again Bill playing chess while Pete playing checkers.

I just watched Pete explain his decision, and it made sense.

They put in the WR's to get the Patriot's pass defense on the field, then they would run on 3rd and 4th down against that defense if they didn't execute on 2nd down. Obviously, he didn't anticipate a pick, who does?

I might suggest a batter batting 200 is not guaranteed to get a hit. My analogy is not apples to apples, but it has some validity and maybe that's why the Hawks tried to get a better matchup on defense

Yeah, but I doubt Lynch didn't score against a run defense as shaky as New England's. I mean, he ran for 4 yards on the previous play and Seattle was averaging 5 ypc for the game.

Further, Pete's explanation makes no sense since NE had 3 DB's on the field. Is that anyone's normal "goal line" anti-run defense?

You and I know that Lynch scores....NE did not have a goal line stand all year....you are not stopping Lynch from scoring from one yard out on 3 consecutive plays.....

Seattle had 1 time out left ! Tell me how they can get in 3 straight running plays in the last 20 seconds from the 1 yaRD LINE. 2 Yes but no way 3 !

I have no prob w/not running Lynch. What I do argue with is the play that WAS called. One of the most mobile QB in the NFL, use a play action, the fake of Lynch into the line would have drawn the whole NE D In. roll out w/an option. And run it from under center. Lost respect for some of you guys, as your hatred of BB & NE has clouded your judgement. Do you really think BB not calling TO was an oversight??? NOT!! Great game.
