Do you not see all the hospitals overflowing with patients and dead bodies piling up right now? That would've been happening in Jan-Feb if your theory were correct. Similar to the flu, there weren't many infected in the first couple months. Again, your theory is hogwash.

Texas university disease models say only 1 in 10 active cases are being tested and reported right now. Putting the number of cases in the millions. Also New York has anywhere from 100-200 people dieing in their homes each night. Almost all of them had no covid test to date. This just shows you the sheer number of people who are severly sick, mildly sick, or sick with no signs that are self medicating

More and more people are coming around to the reality that this virus has moved through the population much quicker than they could have imagined. Millions have been infected and recovered, death rate is drastically lower than current reported numbers

So what percentage of people are thought to be infected?

If many more are infected than previously thought, does this mean the virus is far more infectious than it was thought to be?

Well the flu infects 60-90 million a year, so flu season is 6-8 months. So on average you have around 8-10 million people get it a month. I remember hearing this virus was 2.5 x's more contagious than the flu, it would make sense that 15-20 million or more a month would be infected.

In my opinion this virus is like the flu on steroids. It burns through a population much quicker(2-3 months) as opposed to 6-8 months. A large # have no clue they were ever sick, but at the same time, the sheer volume that do have a bad illness is in such a short time period that hospitals can get overwhelmed compared to the flu.
