Hold that thought. The line was -114. I already added 1.01 (the cost of commission) to base amount. If you risk 115.15 to win 101.01, and lose, you will be charged an additional 1.01.
I haven't used the formulas much since March 2009 when MB changed their structure, but sometimes I forget that the commission is for all bets, not just "net-win" bets. That's why I almost always make offers only so I don't think much about the cost. I did not have the formulas in my spreadsheet anymore so I had to do this typing from my mind.
Okay, whether my play wins or loses, I already expect to lose $1.01 because 1% of $101.01 is $1.01.
I don't add another $1.01, no no.
You talk about the "other player", okay, I understand your confusion. If he somehow offered exactly $115.15 (for me to match), he wants the +114 for the other side, right?
So his line is +114; risking $101.01 to win $115.15.
He gets .2% of the commission cost ($101.01 x 0.002 = $0.20). He gets the 20 cents that came from my $1.01. MB keeps the other 81 cents, that's how they keep the business going with the other 80% part of commission.
