Next time it happens take a deep breath and hold it until it is uncomfortable. Slowly exhale. Then take a bunch of small breaths pausing in between each and do not exhale until your lungs re full. Won't clear the cough but you can control it with breathing.

Have Defying give you a hernia exam

It won't do anything for your cough but you'll probably get another green bar out of it

I would wait another month or two and if you still have the cough go see a doctor. Of course by this time it will be too late for treatment and probably your condition will be terminal, but at least you won't have to suffer by hanging on for 6 to 12 months of treatment that probably won't save you life anyways. Good luck and keep us updated.

Sounds like you have bronchitis, and it's possible the 1st antibiotic wasn't strong enough, or you're immune to it. You might have to try a different antibiotic. I assume the steroid was Prednisone? I'm prone to Bronchitis, and heavy doses of Prednisone for a week usually knocks it out of me.

You you really are not a smoker and have a cough that persists that long then you need to see a doctor. If you are a smoker either quit smoking or get used to it.

I have the same thing going right now. It could be heart problems. I get a tickle in my throat and then a dry cough.

Go back to the doctor and ask/demand for a chest xray. I had the same exact thing happen to me earlier this year, everything cleared up but the cough. I am now in the hospital for my second round of chemo because it ended up being lymphoma. Go get an xray to make sure its nothing more than a nagging cough.
