After the entire country saw Tiger play some embarassing golf and then limping off the course after 9 holes, if he doesn't play another tournament between now and the U.S. Open, with the time he's been out of the spotlight it wouldn't surprise me if he closed at 20-1 odds or higher for the Open.

Wouldn't suprise me either....and if he does close at 20:1, you can count on me putting my money on him.....that's value for a guy that has 14 majors in his pocket, I dnt care how bad he has been playing... he closed at 18:1 at sawgrass, so it wouldn't suprise me a bit.

You know, I don't like Tiger at all as a person. But golf really does need him back. The first thing I thought Sunday when I came home from a day of golf and turned on the TPC was David Toms and K.J. Choi, really? It was decent theatre watching those two come down the stretch. But would the old Tiger have choked on that 3 and half foot putt like Toms did to send it into extra holes? I think not. It's been kind of sad to see his decline this past year. Although he did bring most of it on himself. Face it, that power swing has been hell on his left leg. It is a serious injury, and I have a feeling that he will never be the same again. I miss the "greatness" that he brought to the game. Talent like that doesn't come along very often.

Although I know what your saying when you say you don't like him as a person, you prob wouldn't like a lot of these athletes if you truly knew them personally....I dnt cheat on my wife, or think its cool or ok when other ppl do it to their wife...but I could really care less what these athletes do off the course/court/field. And its really none of my business if somebody I knew was doing it to their wife. I'd imagine 50% or greater of athletes have cheated on their wife, but we don't hear about them because they aren't tiger woods.
I know what your saying when you say you don't like him, but was the reason you ever liked him because what he did off the golf course in his personal life, or what he did on the golf course?

The reason I like tiger is because he brought a killer like/athletic attitude to a sport that's has never seen one. Golf has seen great golfers, but never a guy that would beat you up, throw you on the ground and then slit your throat. He is like Jordan or Kobe but on fairways and greens, lol.

I agree golf needs him back badly, and if he isn't coming back they need somebody else to step up and do something. Can't have a different #1 every week, need somebody to own the game of golf again...I'm hoping tiger gets his shit together and does it himself, because its clear as day nobody else can do what he has already done

Guarantee Tiger will be a factor at a Major this year!!!

And I guarantee he will scare someone in the field at some point.

If this doesn't happen I won't bump a thread over a year old until the 2013....

Any guesses what Tiger's odds will be for the U.S. Open? If he doesn't play another tournament between now and then, he will have played just 9 holes in the 66 days since the Masters.
I'm only interested in the odds for Tiger to not make the cut and quitting !

Wasn't Tiger something like 7-1 for the Masters? I can't remember Tiger's odds, but I think Mickelson was the favorite that week.
Mickelson went off at 6/1 Tiger 9/1 and some 10/1 out there

I'm interested in knowing where you were when you lifted your leg up and posed for that picture

Picture was taken in Zion National Park ! Not a place to be if your afraid of heights. Would the last comment been better for you If I would have said withdraw instead of quitting ? My bad !

There is a reason why people have favorite sports figures. And it doesn't always have to do with just "winning." Tiger has never been at the top of my list as favorites. Even before the incidents where he blantatly cheated on his wife on every stop on the tour. Like many of the the ultra achievers in sports in the past, Tiger has a haughty air about him that I've never really cared for. I know that it takes a high amount of self assurance to be able to reach that level. But as a golf fan it doesn't mean I have to like it. Those are the things that move him down the list for me. On the other hand, I don't how people on here can say they don't miss somebody who has done what he's done for the game of golf over the past decade. Every sport needs that "special athlete" that is a littler better than the rest. Golf don't have that anymore now that Nicklaus and now Tiger aren't around.

Would a true golf fan prefer to watch a three way tie after 15 in the final round at a U.S. Open without Tiger, or would a true golf fan prefer to watch a U.S. Open with Tiger up 5 over his nearest competitor after 15 in the final round?

I'd definitely rather watch a guy up five because a guy would have to have played a hell of a us open to be up 5.

I think I would rather watch someone who can sink a 20 foot putt to send it into sudden death. And then win in sudden death on a broken leg. Face it, for the most part we're not seeing that kind of golf right now.

I agree with both gosooners and red eye....but I also like to watch an athlete do something really special and win a us open by 5 strokes would obviously be pretty special.

If it was tiger winning by 5 shots, the ratings would be better than watching kj choi, Luke Donald, and Lucas glover coming down the back nine on Sunday.

So a large portion of you guys really think he is done as a golfer? Really? Doesnt he have 3 top 4 finishes in the last 5 majors? I get he hasnt won in awhile but damn. He was 4th at the last major and some of you guys act like he is missing the cut or something.

This year at this Open I would pick the second option only because as a true golf fan I want to see Tiger win another Major. Plain and simple, its good for golf. But any other year, Id rather see the 3 guys tied with 3 holes left. A true golf fan wants to see a close match up to the final hole.

I understand a tight finish is entertaining and everything but Why wouldn't a true golf fan want to see an unforgettable performance at a US Open?
Am I missing something? I'd rather watch Tiger dominate a golf course and the field much more than I would like to watch Luke Donald, lee westwood and Matt kuchar play the back 9 all tied up....im pretty sure Tim finchem would tell ya the same thing
