I did a little Google search on the course. Congressional is described as having tree lined fairways with generous landing areas. It's also described as a difficult hilly course. With it's hills and rolling terrain it has the feel of a links type course. So it could be an advantage for both the big hitters and European golfers.. Ernie Els was the last golfer to win the Open on that course. And he was a pretty long hitter back in 1997 when he won. There have been several other tournaments that have played at Congressional. The Kemper Open, which had such notable winners as Craig Stadler, Fred Couples, Greg Norman and Sergio Garcia (mostly long hitters). The AT&T National was also played there. This is the one that was hosted by Tiger Woods. And the two winners in those tournaments were Anthony Kim and K.J. Choi. So you have to think that Choi will be comfortable playing there. And confident after his big Players win.

Its his reputation, not ours ! Some are now calling him a quitter. You aren't but your not everyone.

I would have quit too if i was in tigers situation.....i agree he played like shit for 9 holes, he had already lost the tournament....i doubt he withdrew because of injuries, but why risk injuring it anymore for 63 more holes when you have absolutely no chance of winning or contending after 9 holes

So would any of the Tiger doubters pick a golfer to finish higher than him and actually put money on it?

Tiger couldn't win before he teed it up on 1 !

true, but i bet if you asked a lot of people before the start of the tourney, they would of said the same thing about david toms...esp with his age and horrible track record there..

I wouldn't have picked Toms either. Its not the easiest thing in the world to do, picking a winner of a golf tournament.

Tiger will likely always be the favorite, solely because the books aren't stupid- they know who most of the tickets will be written for. These odds basically reflect who the money has been coming in on, not who is going to win the tournament. When Tiger was in his prime and winning left and right, I remember seeing like +350 on him to win a tournament, that's crazy. Personally, I think anything less than like 12:1 for a golf tournament is basically burning money (not that that is the wisest bet either).

II bet the books got pounded on Tiger wages a couple years ago when he won something like 8 of 9 tournaments or whatever it was. I wonder what the lowest # on him to win a tourn is, anybody know?

I'm not being a racist, but when Tiger was on top of his game a few years ago, I would notice more and more brothers at the golf course on the wkds. Hell, I work with some black guys that I know have never even stepped on a golf course before, and when Tiger is playing good they think they know something about golf.I'm not sure why that is, because tiger doesn't even claim to be black, but its true. These days, I hardly ever see the brothers playing golf. Only reason I brought this up is because a few years ago, everybody and their dog had to have been betting on tiger. Tiger at 18:1 to win a golf tourn was unheard of

Any guesses what Tiger's odds will be for the U.S. Open? If he doesn't play another tournament between now and then, he will have played just 9 holes in the 66 days since the Masters.

What was he at Augusta +400? I'd say he'd be a tad higher than that, after the debacle last weekend, I'll say +525. I doubt if the books would ever make him much higher than 5 to 1 for a major, for Tiger there is obviously no need to inflate odds to generate action.

He opened up at +450 for the masters, but he closed at +900.....last week he was +1800 at closing time for the players....I think we will see him open up around +450 for the us open and close around +950

Wasn't Tiger something like 7-1 for the Masters? I can't remember Tiger's odds, but I think Mickelson was the favorite that week.
