Do you understand exactly what it takes to win a presidential election? It's more than just how popular a candidate is...it takes a great deal of effort on your party's behalf. Volunteers doing fund raising through phone calls, door-to-door stops, flyers, etc. Producing the right TV ads, web sites, mass mailers, and so on to get your message out. And the R's don't appear willing to offer that kind of help to Cruz, unless he somehow wins the nomination...giving them no choice. Independent candidates don't have that kind of support base, because they aren't connected to either of the big two parties. Maybe that's why we've never seen an independent candidate last long in presidential elections.

I don't know why this is such an impossible thought for you to grasp.

In 2008, all it took was an unvetted community agitator selling Hopey-Changey snake oil. After the electoral euphoria, America was left with nothing but a turd sticking up the country from within.
