I think it may be coming to some of the All you can eat Chinese food places.
There's one here that's Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and sushi and it's all you can order, and it's just as good as any in town...$15.95 for Lunch (they leave off a few items like tuna sashimi), and $25.95/dinner. Honestly, that about as much as I like to spend, occassionally, birthdays or some sort, we may splurge and spend $50/pp or so, but that'll include a drink or two also.
The best steaks come cooked right here at my house...
There's a all you can eat sushi place in Raleigh that's only $15.95 and it's damn good. New concept where it is served on a revolving belt system that rotates around you with different items, you grab whatever you want. I'd love to open one here, it would make mad bank...
You have to find the balance. Make sure to save enough to set up for a good retirement/rainy day but also understand you only live once, and allow yourself to have good experiences. My wife and I are early 30s making over $225k combined so life is good right now. But we are always aware that things can change in an instant. So we save a nice chunk but also spend money on nice experiences while we have the opportunity.
My wifes best friend and her husband are young a successful. Shes moving up the corporate ladder and he is an air traffic controller. But they refuse to spend a penny. Wont take their kids to disney world because they say tickets are too high. Might go to the beach in florida once every 3 years in a shitty condo. Ill just never understand that.
Little of topic. If I were to make my way round your neck of the woods is Scott's BBQ a must go?
Wife and I go to Fleming's Steakhouse a few times a year. For some reason they send us a $50 gift card about every 6 to 8 months, that's when we go. We usually spend $150-200 (and then get $50 off). We could spend more if we got an appetizer and more drinks, but usually we both get a meal and a couple of drinks. Well worth it. But only a couple of times/year.
We rarely eat at places where meals are over $35. I'm fine paying up to $30 at local restaurants here in DC, which is very common. But I prefer under $20.
Interesting question/post....and answers!

The wife and I went to SW at the Wynn one year and spent like $400 on some steaks, salads and drinks. Biggest waste of money ever. Bunch of fake ass people dressed in fake ass clothing having fake ass conversations. At one point I asked the waiter "do you talk like this to your friends?" because he had this fake, soft "sir, would you like another" voice on. Ugh, gross.
