Chased so much in my younger days I used to think it was the only way to play.

Dicky,

You remind me of the same thing. I am embarassed to admit how many time I went double or nothing, knowing full well that NOTHING meant I didn't have the money to pay out had I lost...

It's amazing how many more times I WON in those cases, but didn't feel good at all, just relieved...

And oh, the pain when I lost..

The term "getting out" is actually not a bad way to play if your a professional that knows he will evenutally have more winners than losers. I try and "get out" lots of times and it usually pays off for me.

Example, lets say I am down like $1400 on Sat afternoon, I will bet like $400 reverses at night to "get out" and I am happy with my results. I know I will hit more winners than losers.

I advise this type of play to only like 3% of us here.

jj what is an action reverse, yes i'm still learning

SHRINK, are you serious?

Also, do you really have a PHD in psychology? If so, have you practiced as a licensed thearpist?

If we are all honest, I suspect that EVERYONE who posts on here has chased at one time or another in their gambling career...

I promise you guys that if you continue to do this, you will eventually lose your entire bankroll..

It happened to me more than 20 years ago, and my poor mother had to pawn some jewelry to get me out of debt from a local bookmaker...

That was rock bottom for me, and since then, I have NEVER put myself into that position again...

Chasing is one thing, doubling down or double or nothing....I thought that was another thing..

FTR- I have never come close to losing my whole bankroll ( I'm talking including savings)

Its the worst feeling in the world when you make that wager with your entire offshore account balance and it loses...It feels like a death, damn I hate that feeling...

I will share this story here with you guys you can believe it or not but it is 100% true and a great read for gamblers....Although I think most gamblers enjoy reading sob stories over winning ones,lol...

So here goes;

Recently I decided to take a few weeks off to re-charge the battery , baseball just ended and I had probably my best streak over 3 months in my entire betting life, so the time was probably right to take a few weeks off before the holiday betting season...

I called my books and had all my money sent back, at one book the limit was 5k and I had 5,026 dollars left, so i did have 26 dollars left to play with lol...

WHAT CAN ANYONE DO WITH 26 BUCKS!?

Well I didn't even really think much about it , I played a two team parlay to 'throw away' that 26 bucks...It ended up winning ...I then had 101 dollars, parlayed that and it WON as well, I then made a few single bets until it had turned into something , to move along in the story by late saturday I had WON 13 STRAIGHT BETS (Including parlays) and my balance stood at 2,300....

Here's where the sick part comes in...Instead of continuing to play 200 a game with my balance, I went ahead and played two bets a DIME EACH....Both games LOST and were BOTH semi tough bad beats...I went from 26 back down to 100 and had a record of 13-2 LOL talk about poor money management,lol...But I was taking a shot really, I had my eye on this $4,000 Big screen TV I ve been trying to find a reason to splurge on it...

So on Sunday I was back down to 100, but had ammased enough wagers to be eligible for a 175 Bonus Play as well...I parlayed thatand my remaining 100 dollars on Green Bay and Philly game UND...The parlay hit and I was 'alive' again lol... By the time Sunday Night Football was over I had my account back up to 2585 !

Monday I immediately called the book and had 2 dimes sent back, I wasn't about to ruin this one twice!

Since then I have ran the remaining figure (575) figure up to 1,535....

So my tiny 26 remaining dollars that I threw away on a parlay has turned into 3,535 dollars....

I sometimes find that the most commone time I find myself chasing is at halftime of a game I am on the losing side of at halftime. I find myself refusing to believe I made that bad a selection and often put the same amount on the same team in the 2nd half.
