7-9 hours. I imagine that will lessen when I get old.

I read this article awhile ago where this doctor had a theory that humans don't really need sleep and can function perfectly well without it.

Apparently we only need sleep because we have always slept and are programmed to believe we need it therefore our body starts to want it.

I don't know about that. I know I get super messed up when I haven't had a good night's sleep.

Probably around 6 hours during work week. Now if I go out partying or clubbing on the weekend, I probably get around 8 hours.

Between 4-5 hours a night. I usually fall asleep around 2 and im up by 7. The only time I sleep longer then 5 hours is when im up the night before for abour 22 hours. I once stayed up for three days straight and slept for 24 hours straight. That was pretty weird. I don't do drugs I was at the casino and played holdem for 72 hours straight. Probably drank a case of redbull. I no longer drink redbull.

3.5 - 4.0 hours on weeknights. 10 hours on weekends. Of course on Football Sundays I only get about 6-7 hours (I sometimes take a nap during the afternoon games if they are crap).

I am about the same, 2 to 5 hours a night during the week. On weekends I try to get as much sleep as possible (8 to 10 hrs), but is usually broken up. During the week, I start w a large coffee, a large Monster Energy drink, and a "pep" pill (courtesy of my physician) and that's all before I get to the office.

Seems like the vast majority of Rx'ers don't sleep much. Is this the norm or more a trait/symptom of a gambler's personality?

Sleep is very underrated. Friends of mine who live on the edge with little sleep have had health issues. I do not have an average. It could be 3 or 8 depending what stressers I am dealing with.

We'll all make up for lost sleep when we're dead
