I would like to see some sort of automated method of tracking cappers' results. I know that has to be a monumental task, but it also has to come with monumental benefits...

I envision something like making a certain book like Pinnacle the "official" book for capping purposes so any picks which are posted are automatically done at the exact Pinnacle price at the exact time the pick is posted. No padding of results would be possible (no honest mistakes either), and there would be no lines which are effectively unavailable to anyone. Also, anyone using different names from the same IP address to post picks would automatically have the other names exposed.

These are the reasons I neither post many plays (too tempting to just use a soft line strategy), nor do I follow many cappers on the site (too hard to tell who's padding, using soft lines, selective memory etc.).

Of course there are a few fine cappers here who do none of that, but they too would benefit from an automated system because it would make it easier to identify them and would save a lot of work for them as well.

Just a thought which is MUCH easier said than done, but I figure it can't hurt to suggest it anyway.

I suggested this almost 3 years ago on another forum and the suggestion was pretty much ignored. It's desperately needed and I'm amazed that the main sports gambling forums have yet to try it. Monumental task my ass....

You can keep your political opinions out of it. The non-gambling political threads that were retained in this forum rather than moved to the politics forum kept me away for weeks. Business managers who allow their personal issues to get in the way of business are taking risks with customer retention with very little upside.

I disagree. No one forces anyone to open any political thread; for Hanover to say that retaining political threads in the main offshore forum kept him away is just ridiculous. As Fishhead posted, you guys, Shrink and the other moderators, made the decision to keep the political threads in the main forum up until the election was over. That's the American way, democratic process, whether I or Hanover agree with it or not.

What really galls me is that Hanover seems to be trying to silence the Shrink, and the Shrink in his very next post actually apologizes for posting his feelings/thoughts about the election. Ken, you have nothing to apologize for! I am 180 degrees opposed to you on the political spectrum, but I respect and defend your right to post your thoughts/feelings on this election just like anyone else. I don't think I even posted in any of the election threads but I read them all with interest. I wanted to post that Shrink could hold a "Doctors for Kerry" meeting in a phone booth(do they even have phone booths anymore?).

In summary, keep up the good work, you can't please everyone so just do the best you can. And if some people like Hanover feel the need to stay away from this forum because you express your personal opinion and allow others to do the same, then good riddance to them!

KISS1-

Told ya you would love it!!

It amazes me to think of the amount of people that come to Vegas and never experience MT. CHARLESTON..........and yet gander in amazement at a manmade volcano on the strip.

You are very fortunate to live so close to such a beautiful and awe inspiring area such as MT. CHARLESTON.

Hope you get back up there often.

Which one is a redneck and which the blowhard? I like the automated tracking idea...finding the right software might be a fun days work. I like the Grid Iron Pick'em program over at Sportsbetting.com and Yahoo Sports has a program on their Pro Football Pickem contest that updates during the game.

I think this would pull some lurkers into the room and to keep them around a free $10-20 parlay could be offered to the person with the best winning % each week. Ofcourse there would have to be a mandatory minimum amount of picks each week.

Doug, before you get too carried away with your Voltairesque defend your rights to speak to the death speech, I only suggested that he place his opinions in the appropriate forum. Since you're a new poster, you may not be aware of the Politics Forum. Political opinion bereft of betting content is best placed in the appropriate forum, that's all.:howdy: Calm down and have a nice day.

That's fine, Hanover, but that's not all you suggested. Here's what you posted...

You can keep your political opinions out of it. The non-gambling political threads that were retained in this forum rather than moved to the politics forum kept me away for weeks. Business managers who allow their personal issues to get in the way of business are taking risks with customer retention with very little upside.

...you made 2 separate points, 1) keep the political threads out of the main forum, and 2) Shrink, referred to as "you" and "Business manager" should keep their own political opinions/personal issues out of the forum. I addressed both of your points.

ps. I am not a new poster; lots of the dates changed over to Sept 2004 with the new forum. I thought I implied that I read all the political threads in the main forum before the election and in the political forum after the election when they were moved there. And your statement, "Political opinion bereft of betting content is best placed in the appropriate forum", is correct, but in my opinion, the appropriate forum was the main forum before the election. Shrink and the moderators agreed with this opinion, so like the Democrats, you got outvoted! Have a nice day!

Every once in awhile, we ask posters for suggestions on how we can improve...

This is one of those times. What are we doing well and what are we not doing well?

All feedback is appreciated and thanks,

THE SHRINK

Actually letting people post their opinions (as long as they don't use profanity or racism), without risk of being edited or deleted.

I am sick and tired of your biased mods editing posts because they disagree with an opinion.

baseball guy,

Not many I mention this to, but please be advised we have an open door policy and Sir, the door revolves both ways.

Either stay within our guidelines or head to the exit.

You are more than welcome to stay of course, assuming you can provide some type of professional courtesy to this forum.

What guideline am I breaking?? Am I not allowed to ask questions?

Is there some sort of rule that I have to agree with everything the mods say?

I have broken no rules recently, but if you want to make a mountain out of a molehill be my guest.

If you can post one written rule that I have broken within the last week I won't post here anymore.

Glaken, I am not trying to.

Shrink asked for suggestions and I gave one.

If I can't post any of my opinions than I might as well be banned.
