Being a PSU fan, I think Franklin is a great college coach. He isn't a great x and Os guy, he is a CEO style coach. Outstanding recruiter and promoter/face of the program. He is good at the X's and O's but he needs good coordinators below him...he has a great DC in shoop but his OC is absolute garbage...if this offense continues to stutter all season , which I expect...Franklin will need to fire his buddy or he will be on the hot seat himself...this isn't vandy...Franklin has expectations soaring and he needs to back it up
Lol. I heard the other day that 2006 Kansas St coaching staff consisted of HC Ron Prince, DC Raheem Morris and OC James Franklin.....ha ha ha. Misery does love company. You have Jordy Nelson and Josh Freeman and are barely a 500 team. Penn State will be riding 4th place in their division annually.
Ok, how many recruiting classes has he had at Penn State. How many of the current players are the one's he recruited? He's playing with another coaches players and that coach obviously knew he wasn't going to stay in college football. Penn State's offensive line is terrible...only so much you can do on offense. Saying Franklin is a sorry coach is comical.

Judging Franklin on his work at PSU on the field right now is ridiculous. Have to reserve judgement until years 4 and 5...if he isn't competing at a high level in 2-3 more seasons, he will be on the hot seat...but to Judge him on his performance last year and the 2 games this year shows how ridiculous some of you guys are.

I wonder if it were any other team outside the SEC and we laid out the facts, what would the consensus be? I looked at his record just to remind myself what psu fan was alluding to, that he was very fortunate to play in the weaker division and catch a lot of down teams. Try counting his wins over teams with 7+ season victories. It doesnt take but a minute. But hey, they are doing good in school at psu, just got to get the football thing figured out
I dont think you need 5 years to tell if a coach is out of his league. They had all offseason knowing their offensive shortcomings to come up with some kind of plan to only get sacked, what was probably, a school record number of times. His qb has gotten worse under his command. Temple likely is a good team, the first regular season game vandy played without him was an ass-handing vs Temple. The MAC has had a good start, but psu struggling vs multiple mac teams is startling. I guess be thankfull the rustbelt version of the sec is behind them
Edit: Temple not in the MAC anymore...i always forget which conference they are in, beings how they get kicked out more the junk does forums.
