It's pretty ironic that after Ballmer stepped down at Microsoft, his stock options wentup 1.5billion because people anticipated this as a positive for the company.

Now he basically takes the $ he made for quitting his job and pays 2 billion in cash for an NBA team.

How soon people forget that the Clippers were the laughing stock of the NBA. Year in and year out they sucked. Now Sterling gets 2 xtra large on the sale? I bet the majority of NBA owners would drop some n bombs to get that in return.

good people don't spend days and hundreds of posts calling multiple people racists
good people don't create an argument in their silly little minds that people are racists only after they take a position that the players should not be offended by what a silly ignorant man said in a private conversation
good people don't call scores of fellow posters stupid merely because they have a different opinion
good people don't create lies about being banned
good people don't get banned from multiple forums presumably because they're abrasive
good people simply don't act the way he does

it's not plausible that he's good people

and smart people comprehend the nuances of a conversation

Keep this down in the Poly forum man, you'll survive without me.

No surprise there. Great calls all around on this Aki. EXCEPT if you don't think Sterling is a winner here. Controversy = Cash and all this BS inflated the price more than enough for Sterling to cover his Capital Gains nut, IMO. (<)<

Well, financial winner of course. Winner overall, not a chance. It's not like he needs an extra hundred million dollars in his life. His team was his pride and joy. I actually feel really bad for the dude. Especially at 80... just kind of sad.

Haha, yea. I just think it's hilarious him acting like such an innocent person and I just go around attacking them. They follow me everywhere and attack me relentlessly. And if I respond, I'm the bad guy, lol. They had to delete some of his posts yesterday because the first thing he said to me was calling me "f***** scum", "loser", etc, etc.

As for Sterling, I'm glad he got paid. Because I kind of feel bad he lost his team now. The thing is, I think if it was just this one incident as an 80 year old they could have sold to the public that he is insane, but he just has such a long history of racial abuse... just nothing they could do about it.

I hope that gf of his lives the rest of her life in shame. Kind of fucked up.

Thanks bro, had this pretty much nailed down from the beginning. I just didn't understand why people treated the NBA like the bitch in this situation. They are far more powerful than Sterling.

But, I still don't agree with the value being inflated over the scandal. I mean we just saw the Milwaukee Bucks break the NBA record for a sale over $550 million and even mark Cuban said that was a steal. I just can't imagine someone like Steve Ballmer being affected by a public scandal when he's looking to spend billions of dollars on an asset. I think it would have landed in this price range if he sold it without being a racist. Up and coming Los Angeles market team. Definitely would be far more sought after than owning the Bucks.

To live in a society and culture where someone expressing incorrect opinions in a private conversation results in him being declared "mentally incapacitated" so he can have his assets stripped away is sickening beyond belief.

We live in a new day and age where you got to watch what you say and do... the media, social media, and the Internet can destroy a man for making a mistake. If you want to take on the chance of being a public figure and take on responsibilities of representing a large business, you gotta have your shit together.

Ballmer overpaid and he knows it, but the best part is, he doesn't care. When was the last time 3 people bid for sports franchise and you had 3 offers that were 33% and 25% higher than the lowest offer.

The Grant Hill group and the Geffen group were fairly close to the real value. Ballmer, basically said, I am putting a number they won't say NO to.

Sterling threatening to sue the NBA for $1 billion in damages. I've read conflicting reports about whether he is fighting the sale of the team or is planning to sue for the damages of being forced to sell the team. Most reports I've read have nothing to do with fighting the sale as Ballmer and Shelly Sterling have signed a binding contract.

AKphidelt,

You didn't acknowledge that myself or Loomis (I believe) might actually be smart enough to be a journalist.

Predictions:

"Vote will be 29-0" - DNQ

"His lawyers will tell him to sell" - 100% incorrect

Uh, what "calls" were great, again?

They are sold. Lol. Not sure what your argument is. You were clearly wrong about this, lol. Him suing after the fact has never crossed my mind as being something he wouldn't do.

They are not "sold"

The NBA hasn't even received the bid.

Anyway:

Blecher also clarified that this lawsuit has nothing to do with the pending sale of the Clippers, thoughhe told Yahoo! Sports that separate action regarding the sale was being considered.
