we're in uncharted waters fellas, and in this country I just don't see how the NBA can make an owner suffer financial hardship. If they try to, the other owners better not have any skeletons in their closets, and you know that they do. So if the NBA tries to out him for something he said to his girlfriend in a private conversation, and that action causes him financial harm, there is no fucking way this thing doesn't get ugly.

the other owners know this too, they'll be searching for a negotiated resolution. Everything else is a red herring IMHO

and let's be clear, since we're in charted waters without legal precedence, there is no "real world experience" for anyone to draw upon. To suggest such is silly

Per reports, Shelly Sterling has set a 5:00 p.m. ET deadline to submit any bids to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers. Sterling has retained Bank of America Corp. to assist with the sale of the team according to a report by Bloomberg. The NBA has scheduled a hearing for June 3rd to vote on the termination of the Sterling family's ownership however NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has stated he would prefer any sale to take place prior to that scheduled hearing. The Clippers cannot be sold without the NBA's approval.

Shelly Sterling has retained Bank of America to help sell the franchise. ESPN reported Sunday that at least six serious groups have approached Sterling and her advisers about purchasing the team. Four of those groups are known: former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer; a group including music mogul David Geffen, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and Oprah Winfrey; billionaire surgeon and entrepreneur Patrick Soon-Shiong; and a group including former NBA star Grant Hill and Southern California businessmen Tony Ressler and Bruce Karsh.

One source with knowledge of the process estimated that most of the initial bids will start at $1 billion.
Bank of America made bid books with financial information on the team available to potential buyers Tuesday. The Clippers' television rights are up in two years, a key reason the franchise could sell for more than $1 billion. However, the Clippers still have nine years remaining on their lease with Staples Center, according to sources.

Shelly Sterling has issued deadlines to bidders and hopes to have a deal done by Monday, according to sources. She had told bidders to submit letters of interest by Wednesday, with firm offers due by 5 p.m. ET on Thursday. It is then expected that a second round of bidding will take place this weekend, with a winning bid decided upon by Monday.

Shelly Sterling can not sell the team since she isn't recognized by the NBA as a controlling owner.

NBA rules, however, prevent him from transferring a controlling interest in the team to anyone. A new controlling owner would need to be approved by the board of governors, and Shelly Sterling would not be approved.

It is not known whether Shelly Sterling intends to sell the team in its entirety, but that is the only way the NBA would accept the terms of this agreement between Donald Sterling and his wife, sources said.

Of course this was all over the news

[h=1]NBA unswayed by Sterling's offer for wife to negotiate Clippers sale[/h]
http://www.latimes.com/sports/sport...ld-sterling-wife-clippers-20140523-story.html

But hey, lets totally ignore an on the record comment from Sterling's lawyer to multiple news outlets to keep the fantasy alive...

I am hoping this 5pm deadline means West Coast time as I'm going to call her up and tell her me and Dr. Evil are going to team up and offer a million billion dollars!

The fact that you are pathetically pretending this is responsive shows the world how dumb you are

Remember He's going to give up with out a fight.

:pointer:

:hahahahah

and his lawyers will tell him if you fight you will lose, your best option is to sell. He will sell.

Loser!@#0

Blecher's letter makes clear what many have anticipated: Donald Sterling will not go down without a fight and that he is taking active steps toward litigation. A letter of this type is considered a precursor to the filing of a lawsuit. Blecher's letter offers no ambiguity about Sterling's intentions.

Only a complete idiot would respond to "Donald Sterling will not go down without a fight and that he is taking active steps toward litigation"

with, yeah but they haven't voted!!!!!

Jesus Christ what a moron this ak guy is, it's actually pretty astounding.

Lol, so he hired a lawyer... what a shocker!

You keep typing this as if it means Sterling will just give up after the vote.

You know nothing, zero, about litigation.

A sane person would shut up in that instance. You will persist.

Oh really? Because you said:

Note: this came out the day after Silver's announcement Donald Sterling Will Sue The NBA If Forced To Sell The Clippers

Read more at: http://nesn.com/2014/04/report-donald-sterling-will-sue-the-nba-if-forced-to-sell-the-clippers/

And to top that off, Sterling's lawyer has already told the NBA's counsel that Sterling intends to sue regarding the forced sale of the team and outlined the issues that Sterling intents to raise in litigating the matter. This has already happened.

Can't wait to see you admit you're all wrong and stuff.

Hahahahaha!! This is too much gold for one man to handle. Just classic stuff.

Sterling's attorney, Max Blecher, told USA TODAY Sports late Tuesday that Sterling is not interested in selling the Clippers, contrary to a statement made Tuesday by his wife's attorney. Shelly Sterling's attorney, Pierce O'Donnell, said Donald Sterling authorized Shelly Sterling in writing to sell the team, including his 50-percent stake.
...
"Present position is no sale," Blecher said.

Yes, your continued stupid comments are bizarre.

You are pretending that Shelly Sterling is actually selling the team.

You're both dumb and a liar.

When it was pointed out to you that he hired a lawyer and intends to sue, you posted over & over "the owners haven't voted yet" and now of course you're not even able to recognize that you've changed course on that too, since there has been no vote. To top that off, you are, to nobody reading's surprise, misrepresenting what your "argument" was.

The idea that you have any "real world knowledge" on this topic is frankly, obscene.

Anyway, your prediction remains 100% incorrect.

Donald Sterling's lawyer, Max Blecher, told ESPN on Tuesday that his client "is going to fight to the bloody end" and has effectively "disavowed" the agreement he reached with his wife last week that would allow her to negotiate a sale of the team.
"I don't know what agreement she has with him, but I'm saying to you today, he disavows anything she's doing to sell the team," Blecher said. "He says, 'It's my team, and I'll sell it when and if I get around to it.'"

Note:

You lied about being "banned"

Lied about your own argument

Are entirely ignoring the statement from Sterling's lawyer.

In other words, you're projecting.

Shelly Sterling can not sell the team since she isn't recognized by the NBA as a controlling owner.

She actually can sell the team if the controlling owner says she can. That's why the NBA is working with her and hoping she gets it done before June 3rd.

No she can't.

Liar.

The NBA isn't "working with her"

Liar.

“We continue to follow the process set forth in the NBA constitution regarding termination of the current ownership interests in the Los Angeles Clippers and are proceeding toward a hearing on the this matter on June 3,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement.
