Book managers gotta be the most paranoid people in the world. Every time I am down in CR I talk to maybe a handful of new people and they all talk about the RX, but almost everyone says they are afraid to post on the site because a boss might find out, or they talk about how someone got in trouble because a boss found out their employee was talked about or posted. How ridiculous, I mean you can complain about someone doing it while they are working but lets face it clerks and supervisors aren't exactly working up a storm during the middle of the day. If anything, people aren't stupid, they know where to draw the line in what to post and what not to if they want to keep their jobs, for the most part. If they don't want to keep their jobs or feel the boss is an idiot, I can assure you the moment they leave the comments will be 100 times worse when they post them. I go to a few posting sites during work hours that are more connected to the legal gaming world of the US and post away. My boss loves it, I speak my mind and I don't comment unless I am very informed on a subject, which quite frankly is just about all subjects. I bring in good ideas for our department and am the person always trusted to have a pulse on what is going on and what it means.
Having employees that are interested enough about the industry and what goes on in it is something a good boss should treasure, not treat as a threat. After all what gets said on a posting board is often taken with a grain of salt, but if an employee shows the initiative to spend time reading up on what is going on then that is a person I would encourage. At my job, I would say 75% of the people hate gaming for the most part, they just like that it gives them a job. These are people that will tell you something like "last time I went to gamble was 2 years ago" as if it was something they want to win an award for. Its amazing how little they care about what is going on if it won't directly affect the part of the business they work for. I make it a point to know each and every part of gaming, including parts that some would call illegal.
Then again from the managers and supervisors I have met in CR and Antigua, I get a sense that they would rather have their lower level employees be flat out stupid, all they care about is that they get rid of the accent that drives them nuts. Sad but true, just because you pay your employees better than any other job they could get doesn't mean you should act like they should come kiss your feet everyday. Just my two cents...
