[h=6]FEBRUARY 18, 2016 -[/h][h=1]POLL: TRUMP ON TOP, CRUZ AND RUBIO TRAIL[/h]CNN
Donald Trump continues to hold a commanding lead in the Republican primary race, according to a national CBS News poll released Thursday.
Trump tops the field with 35% support, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 18% support and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in third place with 12%, per the survey.
The CBS poll comes one day after a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed rival Ted Cruz with a slight lead over Trump, 28% to 26%.
But the CBS spread among the top three candidates is consistent with most other recent national polling, which routinely shows Trump dominating the field, and Cruz and Rubio ensconced in second and third place, respectively.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich gained some national momentum from his strong second-place finish in the New Hampshire primary last week, according to the CBS poll, registering 11% support. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished fifth with 6%, ahead of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in last place with 4%.
The poll also shows that Trump is increasingly viewed as the most electable Republican candidate within the Party: 53% of GOP primary voters think the front-runner has the best chance to win the general election. That's up from 26% who said the same in July of 2015, when Trump entered the race.
Still, the poll shows significant fissures within the Republican Party. About 1-in-5 say they wouldn't support Trump should he win the nomination, and roughly the same share say so about Cruz and Rubio. Still, about 35% of GOP voters say they would enthusiastically support Trump, down slightly from 40% in January. About one-third say they would enthusiastically back Cruz (32%, down from 37% in January), and 31% say so about Rubio, about the same as in January.
CBS also surveyed opinions on the fight between President Barack Obama and the GOP-held Senate over naming a successor to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who was found dead on Saturday, setting up a high-stakes confrontation.
According to the poll, 47% think Scalia's successor should be appointed by Obama, while 46% think the next president should decide.
These findings are more consistent with the NBC/WSJ poll, which also surveyed opinions on the Supreme Court, and found that 43% support Obama nominating the next justice with 42% opposing him.
CBS also found that Americans remain divided -- largely along party lines -- over Obama's job performance: 47% approve, and 45% disapprove.

DONALD J. TRUMP RESPONSE TO THE POPE

If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President because this would not have happened. ISIS would have been eradicated unlike what is happening now with our all talk, no action politicians.
The Mexican government and its leadership has made many disparaging remarks about me to the Pope, because they want to continue to rip off the United States, both on trade and at the border, and they understand I am totally wise to them. The Pope only heard one side of the story – he didn’t see the crime, the drug trafficking and the negative economic impact the current policies have on the United States. He doesn’t see how Mexican leadership is outsmarting President Obama and our leadership in every aspect of negotiation.
For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian and as President I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened, unlike what is happening now, with our current President. No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith. They are using the Pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant.

[h=2]Trump tells FAKE story about US Army General torturing and executing 49 Muslims with bullets dipped in 'pig's blood' as example of how best to deal with terrorism - and his audience laps it up[/h]
3162888B00000578-0-image-a-33_1455940832280.jpg
Donald Trump shared a story about the murder of 49 Muslim prisoners during a speech in South Carolina on Friday. Trump told the audience a story about US Army General John Pershing and his killing of prisoners during the 'early 1900s.' 'He caught 50 terrorists that did tremendous damage and killed many people and he took the 50 terrorists and he took 50 men and he dipped 50 bullets in pig's blood, ' said Trump. 'And he had his men load his rifles, and he lined up the 50 people, and they shot 49 of those people, and the 50th person, he said; "You go back to your people and you tell them what happened,"' said Trump. 'And for 25 years, there wasn't a problem'.

[h=2]BREAKING - Trump knocks out Jeb! Bush SUSPENDS his campaign after The Donald secures huge 34 per cent of the vote in South Carolina while Cruz and Rubio joust for second[/h]
article-3456560-3168C08400000578-866_964x399.jpg
Donald Trump (center) has won the South Carolina Republican primary, a second-straight victory for the billionaire real estate mogul after his first-place finish in New Hampshire. Early projections gave him more than 34 per cent of the vote. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (bottom right) and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (top right) are in very close race for second, both polling at around 21 per cent, while Jeb Bush (left) was well behind. Exit polls taken in South Carolina found that about three-quarters of Republican voters support a temporary ban on Muslims who are not American citizens from entering the United States - that's one of Trump's signature proposals.

[h=1]BREAKING - Trump knocks out Jeb! Bush SUSPENDS his campaign after The Donald secures huge 34 per cent of the vote in South Carolina while Cruz and Rubio joust for second[/h]
  • First-in-the-south Republican presidential primary ends the same way New Hampshire did, with Donald Trump in the driver's seat
  • A teary-eyed Jeb Bush dropped out of the race following primary results
  • With 40 of precincts reporting, he held 34.4 per cent of the vote; Ted Cruz was in second with 21.7 per cent, ahead of Marco Rubio at 21.2 per cent
  • Trump was declared the winner with just 2 per cent of the votes counted
  • The win will keep Trump firmly in the front-runner slot as the GOP race moves to Nevada next week and then to a dozen races held on March 1
  • Trump has led every statewide poll since November
  • The longer the field stays at six competitors, the more momentum Trump can gather
  • The Republican Party's elders want the 'establishment' lane to consolidate around a single anti-Trump candidate

.

Former Florida Gov Jeb Bush suspended his bid for the White House as Donald Trump added another notch to his electoral belt on Saturday with a decisive victory in South Carolina's Republican presidential primary.
A teary-eyed Bush said he's proud of the campaign he ran to unify the country and advocate conservative solutions.
The son and brother of former presidents George HW Bush and George W Bush entered the race to huge expectations in June, and quickly fueled them with fundraising.
But he quickly slid in the polls behind some of his more outspoken Republican rivals such as billionaire businessman Donald Trump and Texas Sen.Ted Cruz, who have billed themselves as anti-establishment alternatives to the early front-runner.
Following disappointing performances in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Bush pinned his hopes on South Carolina, a state where the Bush name has maintained some clout.
But Bush was unable to break into the top three in South Carolina. He would likely have faced pressure from GOP leaders and donors to drop out had he stayed in the race.
Trump, however, added new momentum to what threatens to become an unstoppable election year juggernaut.
He was declared the winner with just 2 per cent of the votes counted in what amounts to his second solid victory in as many weeks.
With 40 per cent of precincts reporting results in the Palmetto State, the billionaire had captured 34.4 per cent of the vote in a six-way contest.

Second was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 21.7 per cent. Florida Sen Marco Rubio is just behind him in the third-place position with 21.2 per cent.
Former Florida Gov Jeb Bush, Ohio Gov John Kasich and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson made up the bottom half of the Republican results table with 8.2 per cent, 8.0 per cent and 6.5 per cent, respectively.
More than 1,000 Trump supporters at his victory party in a Spartanburg, South Carolina, hotel ballroom chanted We Want Trump!' We Want Trump!' and cheered every time CNN, which was playing on flat screen TVs, announced an update in the counting.
The win keeps Trump firmly in the front-runner slot as the GOP race moves to Nevada next week for the state's caucuses, and then to a dozen races held on 'Super Tuesday', March 1.
It also solidifies the sense in South Carolina that the state's Republicans have undergone a monumental shift from a genteel, center-right majority to an angry conservative one.
That's the same transition the GOP is seeing nationwide – with Trump casting himself as the champion of frustrated voters who have lost patience with a divisive White House and believe President Barack Obama has weakened the United States.

Supporters cheer as the South Carolina primary is called for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at his election night party

Supporters of Donald Trump celebrate as the South Carolina primary is called

Trump, the unlikely Republican front-runner who made his fortune in real estate and reality television, led every poll in South Carolina since mid-November.
That made Saturday night's topline result a largely foregone conclusion and set up a fierce battle for second place.
The same dynamic played out in New Hampshire eleven days ago, with Trump crushing the field and Ohio Gov. John Kasich stealthily slipping past his noisier rivals to grab the silver medal.
Although the real gap between silver and bronze can be paper-thin, as Rubio and Cruz are seeing, the practical impact will be huge in terms of momentum and fundraising.
Only Trump, who is funding his own bid – his campaign committee accepts donations but he never asks for them – can afford a poor finish.
He has yet to see one.
Trump seemed to know all along that keeping his rivals bunched together in the distance was his best-case scenario, batting down Cruz and Rubio every time either one seemed to have the upper hand.

Anyone else getting tired of Rubio & Cruz claiming victory after 2nd & 3rd place finishes.

Wow these guys two 3rd's and after each 3rd place if someone just woke up from a drunken stupor
he would have thought Rubio & or Cruz where on their respective ways to the nomination.
I wish Cruz had come in 2nd instead of Rubio, Rubio is the only one who scares me a little.
