Not too loud Bob - my wife is an "import"

Hey Lander - I'm not a traitor to my state - my state is a traitor to me.

As for Fast Shot (Kerry), the Vietnam war hero and political opportunist - I won't vote for him until he tells me whose metals he threw over the White House fence in protest.

The fact that "working stiffs" vote Republican shows just how "stiff" they are. The Democratic party is the party of the working man.

But if they want to give up better wages for themselves so they can feel some moral superiority by preventing two gay people from being married in Kansas, then I hope they have good jobs. Most blue collars I know would rather let the gays do what they please and take home an increased wage--something the republican party will not bring them.

Is a professional talking head and made her reputation as a Clinton hater, she wrote High Crimes and Misdemeanors, attacking all liberals with a very inflammatory rhetoric. All the while having on screen orgasms when the subject of GWB came up. She has called Ted Kennedy an adulterous drunk. Has claimed that Bill Clinton had crack pipes on the White House Christmas tree. She despises the ACLU, and any celibrity liberal such as Barbara Streisand. Her favorite target has been Clinton, who she is fond of calling a felon. Meanwhile, as Coulter depicts it, conservatives are being persecuted ceaselessly. For example, when The New York Times urged Bush to "crack down" on anti-abortion activists who threaten doctors, she wrote this: "In their darkest fantasies, this is what liberals claim McCarthyism was." She is a preview of right wing slader journalists on the rise in the US. Actual politcal debate is an impossibility with Ms. Coulter. Sad commentary on the state of the GOP.

If I remember correctly, she also wrote that she had wished that the 9/11 terrorists had chosen the New York Times building instead of the WTC.

Yet for some reason, she slips past the radar of the jingoistic flag wavers that label anyone and anything as being anti-american....

Funksoulbrother, because of your handle, I think you might be black. If that's the case, then let me ask you; what have the Dems done for the Black Community lately?
I see black conservatives like Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell and Condoleza Rice reviled by the liberals, and especially reviled by the Black Community, and I can't figure out why. Here are people who worked their way up through the ranks and got to their positions because of their abilities and not because they're black. They happen to be conservative minded and Republican in their thinking; so what! The modern Dems, to my knowledge, have never elevated a black person to such responsible positions - yet the Black Communtiy blindly marches in lock step with the same Democratic leadership who have never done anything positive for the Black Community. Welfare, affirmateive action, and other minority programs haver outlived their time - it's time to bring all Blacks into the mainstream to be "judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin", to live their lives as Americans - to chase the dream or not - to be upper class or lower class determined by the sacrifices they're willing to make to achieve success.
I know I'm rambling, but the Black Community is not homogenous - yet they are treated, and act in an homogenous manner - and I feel bad for them for this treatment.

Wilhiem - do you really believe what you just wrote? Are you saying it's alright for the left to call the right any names; to make any slanderous and untruthful statement they want against the right, but when a right winger uses those same tactics, it's unfair?
Are you serious? You sound just like radiofree - a pimply faced kid mouthing the party line! Why don't you try to find an original thought!

Radiofree - you can't have her - she's to classy for a kid like you - besides that she's a conservative. In about 4 weeks we'll have been married for 30 years, so she's probably to old for you; so if you don't mind, I'll keep her.

If I am a pimply faced kid, then how did I manage to serve my country in Viet Nam. I was born and raised in Mass. when my country needed me I went, where was your hero GWB? Oh yeah. I remember now, The Texas Air National Guard. For that matter where were you, kindergarden? I've seen hundreds of socially useless "Fund Mangers" come and go. Talk to me when your precious right leaves you dead in the economic water by the end of 2004.

Officials at Walter Reed Army Medical Center are referring some outpatients to nearby hotels because casualties from operations in Afghanistan and Iraq have overloaded the hospital's convalescence facility.
"We have an informal agreement with any number of hotels in the area. If we come to this point, they will take [patients] for us," said Walter Reed spokesman Jim Stueve. "They're very supportive and cooperative when we need that assistance."
Mr. Stueve could not specify how many soldiers are in hotels, but said Walter Reed is referring about 20 patients or their relatives to hotels each day. Hotels in Silver Spring, just across the D.C. line, offer discounted rates for outpatients and their families, and the military pays the bill.
However, the hotel arrangement has not compromised the quality of care for incoming wounded, Mr. Stueve said.
"The staff is highly motivated to get these troops mended and on their way," he said.
A hospital spokeswoman said: "We haven't turned away any injured soldiers. We are treating all of them."
The Army hospital and its convalescence facility, Mologne House, are at maximum occupancy capacity, with 96 percent of their outpatient beds filled with war wounded.
Walter Reed has been at maximum capacity since Operation Enduring Freedom began in Afghanistan in 2001, Mr. Stueve said, adding that the hospital's 3,900 staffers have "put in a substantial amount of overtime."
Before Enduring Freedom, the hospital's occupancy rate had held steady at 83 percent for five years.
"We haven't been average here for well over a year. We've been really busy. They've been rolling in here real regular," Mr. Stueve said.
The Mologne House is a 280-bed facility for outpatients who need continued care or rehabilitation, as well as their families.
"Anybody who comes here and wants to stay there can't," said a hospital spokeswoman.
The hospital has 40 of 250 beds available for inpatients, but must continually open beds for new arrivals from Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany or the U.S. Naval Hospital in Rota, Spain.
"We have flights coming in almost every night from Landstuhl, so you don't book that sucker up solid so when you have your No. 1 priority come in, you say, 'You can't stay here,' " Mr. Stueve said.
Walter Reed has treated about 750 patients from Operation Iraqi Freedom since the war began, 185 of whom have been battle casualties. Of the 185 battle casualties, 135 have been treated as inpatients and 50 as outpatients. The total number of battle casualty patients discharged is 111, including one death, leaving 24 currently at the medical center as inpatients.
One of the hospital's best known patients — Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch — left Walter Reed last month to return to her family's home in West Virginia.
A current inpatient is still in critical condition. Two others remain in critical but stable condition. Walter Reed physicians describe the conditions of other inpatients as ranging from fair to good. The patients have broken bones, orthopedic injuries, gunshot wounds and other minor injuries.
The hospital received seven battle casualties this week. Four are in serious but stable condition, one is in fair condition, and one is in satisfactory condition. The seventh received treatment as an outpatient.
President Bush declared an end to major combat in Iraq on May 1. But U.S. troops there continue to come under attack almost daily by resistance fighters, especially in cities north and west of Baghdad, where Sunni Muslims were the strongest supporters of ousted dictator Saddam Hussein.

BBlight.. I think we will agree a little bit here.

First off, I'm not black, though I've been dating a black girl for 3 years, so I figure I have some knowledge on the topic at hand.
icon_biggrin.gif

As far as I'm concerned, you are right: The democratic party has never named blacks to positions at the level which GW Bush has done. This does not mean all blacks should vote repub, but its something they should at least take into consideration. I commend GWB for his diverse cabinet. You won't find me in the same pack of liberals calling people like Rice "house slaves" That is despicable and I for one do not stand for it.

The reason this goes on is pure politics (and pure politics can be disgusting). Gore got more of the black vote than Clinton (both were over 85% I believe) which is a HUGE number when talking about the voting patterns of any group. I don't think Dems get 85% in Vermont, and Republicans dont get 85% in Utah. So with 10% of the population voting 85% in your favor, the dems are merely scared of losing them.

I wish the black community would stand up to the people who do slander Powell and Rice and say "if you keep talking like that about people like Powell and Rice, much as we dislike them, we not be so inclined to listen to your message. Feel free to attack their politcs, but not their skin color."

So there, you'll probably be pretty happy with what I have to say on the subject. I don't like dirty politics on EITHER side.

I have to run, feel free to respond though.

In closing

-Welfare has NOT outlived its time, and has little to do with the black community as the vast majority on welfare are White.

-Affirmative Action probably has outlived its time, and I would support a decontruction of this program provided there is a clear (and cheap!) way to lodge complaints as there will still be isolated cases of racist hiring practices, and many blacks who find themselves in this situation will not be able to afford a lawyer to persue it.

-The people who rip on Powell and Rice are not elected Democrats any more than Bill O'Rielly and Ann Coulter are elected Republicans. In other words, don't let the extremists dictate the message of the party to you.

Wilhiem,
You were in Vietnam? Do you mind if I ask where and what year - since I'm also a Vietnam Veteran. I also spent some time in Korea during the Pueblo crisis.
By the way, I didn't call you a pimply faced kid, I said, quote, "Are you serious? You sound just like radiofree - a pimply faced kid mouthing the party line! Why don't you try to find an original thought!"
As far as the article about Walter Reed medical center - what are you talking about? I haven't heard Bush or anyone else in the administration say there weren't any casualties. The administration said that major combat has ended - not that all combat has ended.
Wilhiem, I think you're trying to put spin on a subject to create a controversy where none exists.
