SORRY, His reply
LOR I do not own at this time any small cap mining stocks, no banks (in my trading accounts) and all energy positons are hedged with covered calls.

as for Noront it closed today at $3.39 and has been trading for around 3.50 recently. I heard of this company and they did have some projects, though never invested.

this stock did not do much of anything, until late summer (fall of 2007) when they annouced great drill results from Double eagle. it very quickly climbed and hit a high of 7.05 (high 7.05 low .29).

they hit a number of holes with high amounts of copper and nickel. they also and (media, and others) started to talk about another voisey bay.
I actually still have (have to find it ) the annual report of diamond fields before they hit voisey bay, barely mentioned....that was a fun story.

they have other projects but probably Double Eagle will move the stock down or up.
here are some questions I would have, not just of this company but any jr. mining stock/company.

1. how much cash do they have on hand?

2. what is their burn rate? basically how much do they plan to spend this year, or how long will the cash last. keep costs...low.

3. the volume is dropping, now the markets have been brutal (Toronto down 7.5% and SP down 9.2%) however hate when a jr. is trading 1.8/1.9 million compared to an average of 3 million. like to see a return to higher or average volume.

4. they have sold some large portions of share to Pinetree, how much is owned by insitutions.

5. now believe they hired JP Morgan, what is new there, believe the company would like a joint venture for Double eagle, or a partner to earn it.... would seem much harder to get, I mean many of the base metal stocks in Canada are getting killed and going lower HBM, FNX, Teck (light show), and many large internationals are going lower.

harder to get a partner in this environment, (companies are very carefull with their money.)

6. the drilling on the project, pencil, the holes are great but they need to find more, this is not a mine yet.

as for great upside not sure, the compnay has 118+ million shares out and a current market cap of 401 million.

at $7 you have a 826 million market cap, I would not pay that unles I knew for sure without a doubt that Double eagle was a mine. and a highly profitable one at that.....

pluses potential in a couple of projects and well, well promoted.

LOR worth watching, one more point on most of these discussion boards there are very few short sellers. most everyone on them have already drunken the koolaid.

that does not mean that there is not knowledgeable people who live and breathe this stock, hobby or a passion on these plays, develop.

however often very rarely an alteranate view, or people willing to hear it...... knew one short seller who use to short penny mining stocks, would just state facts and people would attack...was not even that hostile in his posts.

it is worth a look but would be willing to pay more once they have more drilling results.

note: the number of stocks on sale are great, will post this weekend or soon but some are looking cheap.... have been watching...no need to catch a falling knife....and do not care if I get the lowest price.

thanks

LOR, thanks for the info. It looks like a lot of what your guy is saying is mostly the same that is on the main board that Doug turned us on to. I hope we can get back up to the $7 mark this year and I will probably get most of the money out of there. I know it has alot of upside but, it may be many, many years to get the large numbers out or a major buys the company. I don't know how long I actually will stay in but, all I know is that I am down a good amount at this time. It is hard to watch and I hope to be able to make it back and even make some profit someday.

Lovetowin, I would love to see it back at $7. a share. The people that post at Agora board and say thing like, Richard said $28.00 a share sooner than you think is what keeps me in this stock. Weather its good or bad time will tell.

Ichiban, Selkirk is the most knowledgable and intelligent person I've come across on the internet. If I would just buy the stocks he post I would have alot more money.:ohno: The site that I follow him on is www.madjacksports.com then click on message board and then look for the Mover and Shakers board. selkirk & DOGS THAT BARK are good to follow for stock picks.

Your Stock is in a freefall and the Guru Doug hasn't commented on the movement. I'm sure he'll come back and say it's a great buying opportunity or he's in it fo hte long term. It's always a long term investment when it drops like a rock. I noticed he was quick to take a profit on the only reccomendation to go up. Makes you wonder, huh?

I've been a Stockbroker for 20 years, and these "tips" almost never work out.

I hope most didn't put more on this dog than they would on thier average wager.

Good luck.

I to have looking for Doug to come on and say something, but, he is not around. I hope to get back to where I bought in and try to get out clean. Hopefully it will go up a little bit higher and I can make a couple of dollars.

Literally a phone call interrupted me as I was about to pull the trigger on 600 shares at over $4 per share. Checked back a few hours later and it started the freefall. I will take that as a sign it was not meant to be.

sorry guys, been realllly busy with my wifes father in the hospital

I am just awwed by the fact this stock is in the $2.70 range.
I wish i was able to pull the trigger on getting more shares today at these prices, but couldnt get money cleared with it being MLK day

but two things
1. price is dropping because of manipulation. these big boys are buying the shares, and eating them up. Remember these is a buyer for every seller. And if you notice, the volume here does not say any panic from sellers. So obviously they are taking her down on low volume.
2. days like this, just dont look at the computer. I am guaranteeing you this stock will be a huge success this year, but the overall of the market right now is horrible. But remember with the credit woes, and the economy going into a downfall, companies like NOT will flourish. So it will be a matter of time before she rebounds

I will talk to my source tomorrow on some news

bfut have faith in Mr. Nemis. Dont worry about this stock going down (unless your buying more).

So whether you bought at $7 or $1, dont worry

its a long term plan

and this stock will do it

Never buy, own, or sell because someone in a forum told you to!

Do you own due diligence!

This stock, which I purchased after I did my own thorough investigation, is a high risk/ high reward play. I may never see the money I sank into it again, I may make a killing; either way it was money I earmarked for just such a lottery ticket. To claim you are in it for the long haul yet post constantly about the inherent volatility in this type of investment, looking for constant validation of your choice to take this flier, proves you don't have the stomach for it. You need to invest in low cost mutual funds and forget about it till retirement. This is not a bad thing, the market is a grind, not a get rich quick place.

Doug's only responsibility here is... Oh wait he doesn't have one. He was willing to share what he thought was a good idea, same as many in this room do. To make any idea an investment is your own choice, live with it, and don't try and put the weight of it on another's shoulders.

With that said, I am looking to double up with the current pullback. Still a long way off before this becomes a mine, but the demand for commodities isn't going to slacken anytime soon. I personally see this paying off in 2010-2012.

Here is more info from selkirk. I am putting a stop limit on nosof at $2.50.

the stock closed on Monday at 2.70 -.60 18.2%.

Asia and Europe had a brutal sell off, and the US stock futures were real ugly this morning, so Toronto opened down 400 and it only got worse, Toronto loss 604.99 points to close at 12,132.13.
down 4.75% for the day.

LOR I have got stopped out of most of my stocks and the ones I still have (have covered calls on them), though that does not help much when they fall 5% in one day.

anyways would stay away from most base metal stocks until this plays out, I mean TCK.b (TCK US) is now trading below 30 down -4.7%.

FNX and HBM contnue to go down.

with a weak market these juniors are going to find it hard to make gains.. even good news gets sold off...

CVRD is thinking about taking a run at Xstrata, so you would think that maybe CVRD goes down but Xstrata goes up on specualation...last I heard down 3%.

BHP is not bidding for RIO, so RIo falls, however so does BHP.

by the way oil is still 88, but by the way the energy stocks have acted oil is at 70....overeaction, or the market knows the future....

anyways ZINC will be oversupplied in 2008, more of a late 2009 story...copper is similar... and gold after a good run is dropping sharply.

this makes it difficult for base metal stocks and sr. gold companies. for jr. this is a difficult situaition.

these jr. mining companies are like a lottery ticket...you may hit one out of five or ten.

I could never tell you to sell, simply because I do not know the drilling results, is this just like a pencil or do they get more great drill results.
have no idea

however if I were you, probably would own a collection of these jr. stocks. so would try to spread the risk around.

in Canada we have some resource, small capp, precious metal mutual funds.... now normally do not care for the high mer (usually 2-3%) however they often have decent returns, and the risk is spread out....and sometimes you can get a good manager.

or else have a few. and watch them, maybe even paper trade for practice, that is what one old trader told me,

made a great deal on a few, but loss on three more that I researched well.....you learn more from losses.....

Final Thoughts
1. anyways this is risk capital so would only have an amount you can afford to lose

2. would set stops, lower....would be willing to take a bigger loss, on a regualr stock stop would be 5-15% depends, maybe 20%, not often.

3. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. dollar cost average down on penny stocks, I hear of two or three people a year that do this wise move. once you have a positon you have two choices, sell, or hold....never buy more to average down.

4. ask yourself if you loss 50% how would you feel. then sell the amount and keep a position that would let you sleep at night.

finally as I write this the market has had a terrible Jan, and maybe this will be a brutal year, however set your stops, and as you get stopped out build up cash.

many stocks are on sale, and the sale looks like it want to continue for a while, be carefull however great returns can be made after a sharp correction/bear market.

end of novel....lol

by the way maybe I will start a thread on jr. mining companies, many will be washed out after this sell off. maybe a mauch portfolio....most will lose money hopefully some hit.

thanks

untill news, then it will depend on that.

finally would not have a large position in jr. mining stocks...these are high risk/reward stocks, so does not take much for a chance.

thanks

NOSOF is up or is NOT up? I have a problem keeping up. I hope it is up. I have a buddy that sold yesterday and told me I was a fool for not selling. I held onto my shares and will do so until I make a profit!

Hey lor. This is my problem. Just finished speaking with Wells Fargo (they have my IRA) and they have just told me and I saw my account, that NOT finished at $3.08 today and NOSOF finished at $2.855 I have argured with them on the phone and they tell me that NOSOF goes by what is bought/sold in the U.S. and they don't follow what NOT does in Canada. I think I am screwed with being in the U.S. on NOSOF. Everyone on this board and on the other board has told me what you said but, it is not that way with my account. Am I being screwed with Wells Fargo or what? There is a difference of .225 cents per share right now, is that the difference in the dollar with Canada? Please help me if anyone can on this.

Be careful with you IRA and highly speculative stocks. I played this one also, but not with anything I was not willing to lose.

Lovetowin, The same question was asked on another board and this was the reply.
It is beause NOSOF STILL trades AFTER 4:00PM to 5:20PM. When whoever has the time to bid or ask WHATEVER the want as long as they have a buyer or seller. I have seen NOSOF be ALOT higher at times and within the last month it Is usaully lower than TSX-V. But with The exchange rate and the 1hour and 20minutes additonal it can change some times dramaticaly. When the trading reumes the next day it will even out to JUST the exchange rate. So don't let the FINAL for the day be tomuch of problem it will correct @9:30am next day. You really wouldn't want to sell or buy shares after 4PM or Before 9:30AM anyway... Hope this helps.
Been a NOT (NOSOF) long since DEC 2006
