I think this is one of the funnier news stories of the year. For some reason I just can't stop laughing about it. It is the reverse of that SNL Skit Eddie Murphy did (White Like Me) when he pretended to be white and he got a whole bunch of free stuff.

She is going to have some sort of comment tomorrow:

Spokane NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal says she will speak about the furor over racial identity sparked after her parents said she has falsely portrayed herself as black for years.
KHQ-TV in Spokane reported that Dolezal sent a message to NAACP members saying she would address the situation at a Monday night meeting of the group.

There are black people that hate their race & want to be white, & there are white people that for whatever reason don't want to be white, & turn into what she's done to herself.

Did she hate her real parents? I haven't read much about her past, but I'm assuming she didn't get along with her family.....I mean, I'm assuming she didn't visit her family on holidays, etc.......

Gonna be interesting to hear what she has to say........

That'd be fine if she didn't lie about having a black father and ask her brother not to dime her out. This isn't some scenario where she thought she was legitimately African American, she was trying to intentionally mislead people. She was lying her ass off.

If someone tells you the color of the sky, all you have to do is look up and decide for yourself if you are willing to accept what they say (people have been known to describe the sky as grey; sometimes sunsets look red. . . ) Likewise, if someone tells you what color their skin is, you are free to accept or reject that based on what you see. Let me propose an alternate angle.

If you put down "African-American" on your application, and you in reality a blond white chick, you're a fucking liar. It's really that simple.

You can't blame the people who found her disguise believable. Put the accountability where it belongs, on the liar.

I'm not advocating that she should have not gotten the position had she been truthful and said she was white. That's a whole other conversation.
