The Passion is a pretty brutal portrayal. Frankly, I expected more depth to the movie following all the emotion that people were feeling when they saw the film. I found it somewhat boring, but each of us have our own tastes and I respect that Blue enjoyed the film.

BTW, I rarely say this, but because we practically joined the RX at the same time and have communicated so often in the past, please be careful who you follow in the Sports Forums. I know you are bright enough to look closely, so I encourage you to do so.

Speaking of passion, I seen it a few nights ago and have no idea why it was so controversial.
not too highjack this thread but, the reason it was controversial is because the film was an accurate portrayal of the events as described in the gospels. many people do not believe the biblical account of Jesus's torture, death and resurrection. hence, controversey

Ted don't I know it about things not always being what they seem.

Blue please don't bring up a very sore subject.:toast:

SS, Kidslick, the cred post was just advice, imo a capper will get more cred by posting WA lines. I only used the Seattle total as an example of how a number could get hard to find. Any capper can post any line they want, but don't be surprised if others bring it up on them. In all honesty I never even heard about this Ace poster until I recieved some E-mails from posters asking me for his EM addy (I declined to send it).

it was certainly tough to watch. when i say i liked it, i mean that i was glad that gibson had the stones to make a film based on the biblical account of the historical events. many people were moved and converted to christianity based on the movie.

For a movie which you had to read all the text, it was an attention getter for sure. I did enjoy the movie.

If the movie had a positive affect on people's lives, then it certainly has value. Better that, then those that promote violence and mayhem. For me, when I choose to watch a movie it is either for entertainment or to learn something. In this particular case, I felt left with a feeling of having seen something grotesque. I didn't equate it to the biblical account and just felt empty.

All I know is Mel Gibson has profited Millions and Millions and Millions for taking a chance with this movie. Nice slap in the face to all of the fim companies that shot him down and said it wouldn't work.......

omt, i understand what you are saying. there were critics from inside the world of christianity that asked "why not show all the good that Jesus did...all the healings, teachings, acts of compassion, etc". gibson answered the critics by saying, "i felt called to make a movie about His sacrifice for me and other believers. hopefully, people will see the movie and be moved and curious enough to investigate His life on their own and learn about Him".

i understand why someone would feel empty after seeing this movie if they (1) didn't believe it to be true or (2) they didn't understand why He suffered such a brutal fate.

i felt empty after seeing schindler's list because that was brutality and death for no reason. the passion depicted a Christ sacrificing himself for mankind. if one believes that He went through all that for us, one does not feel empty...one feels extremely grateful.

Seems odd that you two spell the same words wrong and are the ONLY two people who ever call me "easton"

PCR,

I'm just pointing out differences. You're right..I used "easton" as my name @ mw for 2-3 years before changing to what I used my name for everything else.

I don't even remember you from MW which is why I brought it up (you calling me easton)

Also... I couldn't care less how many ghosts JJ has if any.... Or if he stopped posting all together and threw himself in the east river. ;)

JJ,

If I had your money management skills or that of a child (you tell me if there's a difference) then perhaps I would be. We all know the $10 bets your supposedly making now are all you'll ever been able to afford.

The reason I know you're full of it... Is because not even YOU could be stupid enough to do the things you swear you have.

Maybe you should pick your gimmick already. Are you a pro or are you some square who bets your bankroll (borrowed on high interest credit by your own admission) on what is essentially a coinflip and just following steam.
