I can't believe it might not go over 95 million now. from 40 million friday to 27 million yesterday! with the midnight shows factored in Friday was very front-loaded. I went and saw the movie yesterday and there actually weren't a lot of kids there compared to Shrek and Finding Nemo.

I don't know that 92 million estimate might be wrong, this morning there was some confusion about Saturday's estimate, it went from 27 million to 33 million, still not sure what is the official number.... hmmmm it's now 31 actually and sunday's projected at 23 million, I don't know it should still be able to pull off a 27 million sunday? or not.

Friday's estimate has also been reduced to 38 million.

Maybe it will miraculously make 95.1. But I doubt it. Maybe I should give up, these summer movies kick my ass every time. But I think the Chronicles of Riddick might be an under oportunity, I imagine the line is going to be set pretty low for that one and it might still go under. The buzz isn't that great and it sounds like a lot of people aren't diggin the previews. This is no XXX, a lot of people are turned off by Sci-Fi if it isn't Star Wars. But **** I'm down a bunch of units I don't know I should reduce my plays to only the ones I'm the most confident in, like the Troy over

The Day After Tommorrow, on the other hand, was a somewhat easy call with that low line... And did I actually bet the under for Shrek?

just thinking out loud here, for the rest of the summer there might be some decent plays to make... Gil, you think Spiderman 2 is gonna do less than the first one? I think it will... some people didn't like the first one...

The Terminal under
White Chicks over, it looks really lame but a lot of people are saying it looks funny and the trailer seems to be getting laughs, but, so did Dumb and Dumberer's trailer
Spider-Man 2 under
King Arthur under
Catwoman under 10 million
ok.gif

The Village, less than Signs? who knows

really there aren't going to be any gimme's this summer. on to September:
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow under
october:
Alexander under?
The Incredibles, less than Nemo? not sure...
The Ring 2 over
Polar Express under? looks kinda cheesy

I don't know most of the movies coming out this year look pretty mediocre, nothing that stands out as a sure-fire over or definite bomb, exept Catwoman, but the line will no doubt be set low for that one. Sky Captain is gonna bomb too I think but again, the tracking is gonna know no one wants to see it.

WTF, I can't believe it. I needed Potter to go over 96 million. Damn it! If it wasn't for Shrek, it would have. (just like I said, that Org is kicking ass)

maybe Sunday will be more, maybe not. Fingers crossed.

judging by the number of kids I saw at the theater Saturday, I seriously doubt it's gonna have a strong Sunday. You were right, Gil, the parents didn't want to scare their kids shitless by this hard-core PG movie, you're always right about these damn kids movies!
