The more I've contemplated these games today, I feel as though the Stampeders are the next team due to bust out of the rut that they're in. Saskatchewan still seems awfully ripe for the taking, and I too, like Scott, share the feeling that this could be a game played in the mid to high 50s if Burris can get going. We still haven't had a home team dog win outright that wasn't a double digit home dog, but I think this is a prime spot for an upset.
As far as the BC/Hamilton game... My gut originally had me taking the 9 points. But I've been burned taking points with Danny Mac ever since week 1. I keep looking at this team, figuring that at SOME point, this is all gonna turn around and make Hamilton the contender that they were at the end of last season. With their group of WRs, Danny Mac should have NO problem finding targets to throw the ball too... So was Brazell just not that great and made better because of what else was around him in BC? Seems like the offense there hasn't lost a step without him. So I'm torn. I still think at some point Hamilton gets this ship turned around, particular in the east, where an underachieving Argos team seems as the only true threat to Montreal's trip to the Grey Cup... but even the Alouettes are slumping after losses @ Winnipeg and @ Ottawa.
So here's the quandry I'm in... I really think there's no reason for BC not to roll tonight. The offense is still clicking, the defense is playing good enough to shut down Danny Mac or whomever else the Ti-Cats want to throw out there at QB. There's no reason to believe that the Lions won't win this game going away... unless I was right about Hamilton from day 1 when I took them against the Alouettes on the road and they covered (anyone else notice the Alouettes don't have a cover this season? 0-3-1 ATS!). I more or less feel a backdoor cover could be coming in this one, so I'm probably gonna play it safe in the earlier game and go with the 1st half only in this game, though I can certainly just see BC trashing Hamilton from the start and not looking back... Saskatchewan/Winnipeg style from the beginning of the season... Or Montreal/Ottawa style for 3 quarters... but I think BC would learn their lesson and not become bi-polar.
So I'm gonna await any other last minute selections that might be had in this game before pulling the trigger, but I'm thinking about some strong plays here on Calgary and the over, as well as a weaker play on BC first half.
